Session 8 - Investigate and Regroup

Roll Call: Dolion, Eliodoro/Miron, Kai, Uldin

  Kai has spent the last few days helping out in the hospital. He's noticed that the hospital has been much more crowded than usual. Many patients were there with a terrible, racking cough, coughing up black globs of a slime-like substance. Kai places some of it in a vial to do tests on later.

  Uldin has been doing some test runs on his highly adapted dragon newly named Sprocket.

  Kai and Uldin are at the Peregrine Pearl sitting at a table. Kai showing off his slime pet, now named Plorp, and Uldin demonstrates some of the new wonders Sprocket is able to accomplish. They have a conversation about rocks, miracles, cleric hospitals, etc.

  Siri brings the two over a cup of coffee. Though the Pearl has seemed to have begun picking up steam where customers are concerned, the background noise the two had been hearing from their private booth seems to have died down a bit now.

  "Are you leaving with them?" Siri asks the two. They don't have any idea what she is talking about until she explains that Eliodoro and Dolion were just here with an elf in a ball gown, a burly centaur, and another woman named Estrata.

  The two look out the window, but see nothing. After heading out of the store's entrance, Uldin hears the sound of hooves coming from down the street. They watch as the group boards a hooded wagon led by Auntie Sam and speeds away.

  Standing nearby is Estrata. "Oh, you two must be Kai and Uldin. They've told me so much about you." She introduces herself, then Kai compliments Estrata on her fantastical dress and wine glass.

  Estrata relays the information about the group going to attack Krinko's warehouse tonight. She pulls out a card and writes the address on it for them. Kai thanks her and kisses her hand like a gentleman. He notices that her skin is surprisingly cold, however. The cool touch and the glass of thick wine... Kai deduces this must be a vampire. He doesn't mention this realization, however.

  Kai and Uldin board a carriage of their own, but notice their driver is much slower than the one of the hooded wagon. The two eventually make it onto the street of the address. The driver doesn't travel very far before refusing to travel another inch. Kai thanks the man for his trouble and pays him handsomely. They then get out and Kai wraps one of his long arms around Uldin's wirely frame. It feels similar to carrying a bag of sticks.

  Kai begins swinging down the street, holding Uldin with one hand and attaching to the tops of buildings and swinging with the other. Kai swings for a while, then grabs the roof of a certain building on the left. A sudden creepy sensation flows through him. A shadow crosses his field of view. A debt pact angel lowers just behind them.

  "GET OFF THE ROOF!" The words enter Kai's mind and he suddenly feels compelled to release his grip from this building. The two fall to the ground. The angel gently floats to the ground beside them with its scythe out.

  Kai apologizes stating he meant no ill will. He was just passing by. The angel nods menacingly and flies back to its spot above the building. The two decide that they will just continue walking normally for the remainder of the distance.

  The two eventually come across a thick wall of fog. Kai investigates this wall and realizes that this is a powerful form of Azorius law magic. A censoring spell. Anything can enter this barrier, but once inside, nothing can escape past this wall. Kai carries Uldin up a nearby building trying to get a better vantage point. Kai thought this fog wall was circular in nature, but seeing it from this height, he realizes that it actually seems to follow perfectly with the grid system of the city. On the other side of this roof, Kai spots Eliodoro crouched over, concentrating on something.
