Alec looked at his reflection in the mirror chewing his lip tilting his head slightly "I can hear you breathing Izzy" she sighed coming into sight smiling "you always did have inhuman hearing big brother." She moved to stand next to him tilting her head "I think this is the first time I have seen you go on a date." He rolled his eyes moving to grab his jacket "it isn't a date Izzy Max and I were simply invited to go to dinner." She laughed "right at the same restaurant that has a huge waiting list and is to pricey for any of us to afford. Keep telling yourself it isn't a date and maybe one day we will all believe you." She smirked knowing how flustered Alec gets with these types of things. "Iz drop it you know it can't be a date. Not with Luke and Max.." she looked at her brother sadly "Alec Luke isn't going to care and Max doesn't know any different. Besides Max is down with Luke as we speak embarrassing you. I now remember why I love that kid so much." Alec shook his head ushering her to the door before closing it heading down stairs towards the sound of his sons voice. "Then daddy and I baked cakes and snuggled but daddy snores really loudly when he sleeps on his belly like this.." Alec came into the room watching as his son tried to imitate how he fell asleep on the couch the other night watching Frozen. "Thats very funny monkey now stop bugging Luke" Alec mouthed the words I'm sorry to Luke before scooping up Max kissing his cheek. Max giggled burying his face in Alec's neck as he was carried upstairs to get ready for dinner and he played with his stuffed monkey on the bed while his father picked out an outfit. "Daddy?" Alec hummed turning to pass Max his clothes "is Luke gonna come live with us? I like Luke daddy.." Alec smiled softly "maybe one day he will monkey." Alec helped Max finish getting ready before scooping him back up heading downstairs to the car buckling him up gently before getting in himself starting to drive. This should be an interesting dinner he thought to himself listening to Max sing along to the radio.

Alec went up to the front once they parked and got inside and reached for the card in his pocket only to realize he left at home. He chewed his lip knowing Max would be disappointed if they left so he was gonna attempt to get a table regardless and just hope for the best. "Excuse me sir but my son and I were invited by Magnus but I seem to have forgotten my reservation card from him is there any way you could go get him or still sit us when there is one available?" The man looked up glaring and went to open his mouth when a loud voice was heard from almost across the room "Alec?" Alec moved slightly and smile shyly "hey.." Magnus pushed his way through the room before moving to grab two menus gesturing for Max and Alec to follow him. "Here we are." He moved helping Max to sit before pulling Alec's chair out for him laying a menu in front of each of them and Max smiled widely "daddy look I get big boy food. Alec laughed softly nodding as Magnus clasped his hands together "well I will let you guys look over the menu don't hesitate to ask for anything." Alec nodded grabbing the menu looking around wishing silently he worked in a place this nice. Alec watched Max eat a rather expensive bowl of mac and cheese while he sipped at his water. Magnus came over setting a small piece of cake in front of Max and what looked to be a tart in front of Alec "dessert that I owe the little one and an apology tart for you" Alec looked up and smiled slightly while Max squealed. Magnus chuckled moving to sit eating his own tart and he sat so effortlessly it had Alec staring completely entranced by his movements. Magnus smirked slightly taking a bite as he hummed "see something you like?" Alec cleared his throat quickly taking a bite "the tart it is uhm as good as it looks." He swallowed avoiding eye contact and Magnus nodded leaning back taking a sip of his wine he brought to the table. "So Alec how long have you been running the bakery? I don't remember hearing anything about it and I know this city like the back of my hand. Up until a few days ago I didn't know it existed. How did you manage to hide it?" Alec was staring again at how Magnus swirled his wine glass "I uh don't know I guess it just isn't your side of town. My mother has helped me get it running but it has only been about a year I was a little preoccupied.." he gestured with his eyes to Max. Magnus smiled and set his glass down "for only be up and running about a year you are doing remarkably well. It isn't every day you see that kind of drive in someone like you." Alec raised his eye brow "a person like me? What is that supposed to mean?" Magnus looked at him gesturing "you know a man with your lifestyle and raising a son in the midst of it." Alec frowned trying to process what Magnus meant by that "I don't understand what you mean by a man with my lifestyle." Magnus tilted his head "I think you do. Really I find it remarkable. People can be very hmm shall we say close minded towards things and its not an easy thing running a business if they know and it can't be easy running one and raising a son all the while dealing with their prejudices." Alec swallowed taking a sip of water before lowering his voice "I don't know what you are talking about." Magnus looked at Alec for a moment before leaning forward "Alec you have nothing to be ashamed of.." Alec looked away moving to grab the check " I am not ashamed of anything. I don't know what you are talking about." Magnus put his hand over Alec's to take the check from him "I have upset you. Let me take care of this." Alec stared at their hands holding his breath briefly before shaking his head "you didn't upset me. You got us a table that was treat enough I can't let you pay for our meal." He gently moved his hand away looking away from Magnus as he moved to grab his wallet however Magnus grabbed his wrist and Alec closed his eyes "Alec I insist. I was rude two days in a row and now I have upset you. It really isn't a bother. You are my guest after all." Alec opened his eyes looking Magnus in the eyes "I don't believe a $3 cupcake and a poor attitude adds up to a fine dinner at a place like this. It barely constitutes an apology. I am your guest you made it up to my son and that is all you need to do Mr. Bane." Alec used his last name hoping it would get him to back off but Magnus only smirked "Oh Mr. Bane that does have a particularly nice ring to it rolling off of your tongue Alexander." Alec froze opening his mouth but no words came out. Izzy walked up smirking at her brother "hope I am not interrupting though it looks like I am. Its almost time for Max and I to catch our movie and I didn't want to be late." Magnus smiled wide leaning back holding the check up "I will let you two settle Max while I go pay." Alec opened his mouth to protest but Magnus winked getting up walking away while Izzy grinned widely picking up Max "seems like your date is going well." Alec practically growled the words "It isn't a date." Izzy rolled her eyes letting Max kiss his dad goodbye "relax big brother it isn't a big deal. Besides you didn't tell me Magnus was hot." Alec blushed and glared at her while she laughed "have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do." She bounced Max gently as she walked away and Alec blew out a frusrated breath rubbing the back of his neck closing his eyes. Magnus walked back to the table just watching Alec for a moment before laying the receipt in front of him "there we are all taken care of.." Alec startled slightly looking up at Magnus nodding and Magnus tilted his head "did you oh I don't know want to go get a drink or take a walk and just talk about business I would love some dessert tips.." Alec just stared at Magnus for a moment before biting his lip standing up grabbing the receipt stuffing it into his pocket brushing past Magnus "sure lets go but I am buying." Magnus smirked watching Alec walk and muttered under his breath "I do love a challenge."

Alec walked with his hands stuffed in his pockets and Magnus walked smoothly beside him before ushering Alec into a bar not far from the restaurant. Magnus smiled at the bartender grabbing a booth for him and Alec holding up two fingers before slipping off his jacket taking a seat. "So Alexander tell me how do you make your cakes so moist" Magnus leaned back smirking when Alec blushed staring at the fact that Magnus had his shirt partially unbuttoned "Alexander my eyes are up here." Alec turned redder looking away sighing in relief when the beers were set on the table taking a large gulp quickly before setting it down looking at the table while he talked "I guess I just take my time. Sometimes you have to slow things down to make them perfect. It isn't always about rushing the process." Magnus smiled watching Alec and hummed "sounds like you have a gift." Alec nodded taking another drink before looking up at Magnus just staring "Alexander what is it?" Alec closed his eyes tightly muttering something under his breath before standing tossing some money onto the table. "Alec where..." Magnus was interrupted by Alec holding up his hand speaking so softly it was almost hard to hear "this gets out to no one. Not a single word." Magnus raised an eyebrow as Alec brushed his lips against Magnus's moving a hand to Magnus chest clenching the silk shirt gently in his grasp. Alec sighed softly just breathing in the scent for a moment before slipping something into Magnus front pocket turning and walking away before any response could be made. Magnus just sat there confused as the bar door swung closed.
