Talk to Me

Alec sat at the counter entirely focused on the task in front of him. Every so often his mind floats back to the last several nights with Magnus. A ghost of a smile paints his face as his mind flashes back to the hushed whispers and the gentle touches. He shakes his head looking up trying to clear his thoughts. He bites his lip before moving to call Magnus before deciding against it. Alec set his phone aside grabbing the few menus he had made throughout the day to show Magnus. He carefully packs up a cupcake and makes sure everything looks ok before tossing the keys to Izzy who was sitting up by the front. "Lock up for me and tell mother I said hello" he pushes his way through the door pulling his coat closed and holding everything close to him as he walked to meet Magnus at the restaurant.  Alec smiled softly to himself as he thought of how happy Magnus would be to see the plans come to life. He hums and after what seemed like awhile he pushes through the doors of Magnus's restaurant nodding to the host as he makes his way towards the back.  "Hey Magnus I brought..." Alec pushes his way into the back office stopping when he sees Magnus sitting behind the desk with Ragnor leaning up against the wall arms crossed. Alec pauses his eyes locking onto the woman sitting on the edge of Magnus's desk. Alec clears his throat turning to go as he says "I uh sorry...I brought.. I will just come back later." Alec shuts the door gently behind him swallowing before heading back outside to walk home after picking up Max. 

Alec is sitting on the couch with Max watching Frozen when Magnus arrives home for the day. "Alexander I have tried calling you. You left the office rather quickly. I brought home some food." Magnus sets a few bags on top of the counter walking into the living room pausing by the armchair when all he gets from Alec is silence. "Alexander?" Max looks up at Alec wanting out of the blankets they are wrapped in together. Alec smiles softly at Max kissing his head before gently moving the blankets. Max grins running to Magnus and hugging his legs tightly. Magnus chuckles gently scooping Max up "well hello there little man. Are you hungry? I brought home your favorite." Max hugs Magnus around the neck nodding as Magnus turns to head back towards the kitchen. "Alexander would you like yours on a plate or?" Alec glances that way briefly before turning the tv off muttering "I already ate." Magnus frowns glancing at the time but decides not to push it. "Alright, I will just put it away for later. Are you alright?" Alec folds the blanket putting it on the back of the couch walking towards the bedrooms "I'm fine." Magnus frowns sitting at the table to eat flashing Max a smile. Max hums happily as he sits and he giggles looking at Magnus "daddy is mad at you." Magnus tilts his head raising his eyebrow "oh and how would you know that hmm?" Max shrugs taking a bite of his food "he let me have candy when we got home and he didn't come home with you. Daddy always comes home with you so that means he must be mad." Magnus takes a bite of his own food shaking his head. "You are one very smart boy" Magnus winks at Max when Max smiles wide. After eating with Max Magnus helps clean up their plates and gets Max ready for bed. After many bedtime stories a few cuddles Magnus finally leaves Max's room leaving the door cracked just slightly. Magnus heads towards his room in search of Alec and gently pushes the door open murmuring "Alexander?" Magnus pops his head around the door as he walks in meeting Alec's eyes just briefly as Alec looks up from reading. "Whats wrong?" Magnus shuts the door behind him walking towards Alec. "Alexander talk to me" Alec closes his book setting it on his nightstand moving to lie down his back facing Magnus. "Alexander please" Alec pulls the blanket further up closing his eyes. "Clearly I have upset you in some way. I can see you don't want to talk but we can in the morning." Magnus changes into a pair of sweat pants climbing into bed beside Alec and leans down to kiss Alec's temple. "Goodnight Alexander. I love you" Magnus murmurs before rolling over turning off the light hoping things would be normal come morning. 

Alec laid awake most of the night just staring at the wall in the dark before finally deciding to get up with a blanket wrapped around him. Alec sat out on the balcony blanket held tightly around his shoulders the food Magnus had brought home from work beside him. He looked up at the stars sighing. After what seemed like awhile Magnus woke to find the bed empty beside him and got up to find Alec. He made sure not to startle Alec upon finding him on the balcony. "Alexander it's early come back to bed" he murmurs softly leaning against the door frame. Alec shrugs "I am aware of the time thank you." Alec's tone was tired and slightly bitter. "Ok enough Alexander. I get the idea you are angry and I am unaware as to why but I will never know why unless you actually talk to me. You came to work yesterday and left before anyone could say anything and then I tried to call you several times and you went straight to voicemail. So what is it? What happened?" Alec shrugged grabbing his plate moving to push past Magnus but Magnus grabbed Alec's arm quickly pulling him back "Alexander." Alec glares at Magnus "let me go. Now." Alec pulls his arm away heading into the kitchen. Magnus groans following Alec "what happened to always talking to one another?" Alec tosses his trash away turning to wash his hands "leave me alone Magnus." Magnus grabs Alec's wrist shutting off the water "Alexander." Alec turns towards Magnus angrily. "What Magnus? What do you want? You want me to talk. The time for talking was yesterday. Leave. me. alone." Magnus shook his head "what is wrong Alec?" Alec pulls his hand away but Magnus tightens his grip. "Alexander" Magnus murmurs as Alec glares shouting at Magnus. "I said enough Magnus!" Magnus opens his mouth letting Alec's wrist go as he tries to cup Alec's cheek. "Don't" Alec steps around Magnus moving towards the couch but both of them stop upon seeing Max standing in the hallway confused and tired. Alec closes his eyes tightly softening his voice "I am sorry monkey did we wake you?" Alec moves and gently lifts Max into his arms heading to put him back into bed. Alec sits on the floor beside the bed gently stroking Max's cheek. "Go to sleep monkey I am right here" Max buries his face and sleepily mutters "why sad daddy?" Alec kisses Max's hand shaking his head "I am alright monkey don't worry. Daddy and Magnus just had a bit of a disagreement. I am sorry for waking you." Max shakes his head "you didn't tuck me in only Mags did..so da..sad.." Max lets out a soft huff of a breath as he drifts back to sleep. Alec makes sure he is covered up but decides to stay on the floor beside the bed not realizing Magnus was sitting outside of the door waiting for any sign of Alec coming to talk.
