girlfriend: "Hola."
soobin: "Hola. Cómo estás?"
girlfriend: "Bien. Y tú?"
soobin: "Bien."
(silence)
soobin: "That's about as far as I can go if we continue to speak in Spanish."
girlfriend: (laughs) "I know. I was just testing you. How was today? Did you get on the team?"
soobin: "Well... kind of..."
girlfriend: "Kind of? How can someone kind of be on the team? You're either on it or you're not."
soobin: "An issue came up but it's in the progress of being fixed now. We're working on it."
girlfriend: "Who's we?"
soobin: "Me, [y/n], and Kai."
girlfriend: "Soobin, what's going on over there? Ever since you moved there it seems like there's been nothing but drama with those friends of yours."
soobin: "It's not their fault. It's the video clip of me last year. It surfaced here."
girlfriend: "What? To everyone?"
soobin: "Not to everyone, just to the basketball coach. But we're going to get a reference letter from my old coach and have him do a conference call with the new coach to clear the air and set things right."
girlfriend: "I can't believe that video clip still exists... I could've sworn they erased any last trace of it but that's the Internet for you." (sighs) "So who sent the video?"
soobin: "[y/n's] ex."
girlfriend: "[y/n's] ex?"
soobin: "He's so hung up on her that he's acting like even more of a jerk than he already is."
girlfriend: "But why would he drag you into it?"
soobin: "Because he's a grade A asshole, maybe?"
girlfriend: "That, or..."
soobin: "Or?"
girlfriend: "Or he's jealous."
soobin: "Jealous? Why would he be jealous?"
girlfriend: "Don't be naive, Soobin. He's probably jealous of you because you're her new friend. Maybe he thinks..."
soobin: "Maybe he thinks what?"
girlfriend: "You know. That you're into each other."
soobin: "We're just friends."
girlfriend: "I know. Just... you really need to be more careful, Soobin. It's senior year. You don't want to mess up anything that would ruin your college applications. Did you apply for the colleges I was telling about?"
soobin: "Yes."
girlfriend: "Imagine: us going to college together. We won't have to be in a long distance relationship anymore."
soobin: "I know."
girlfriend: "Don't worry, just the rest of the school year and then high school is over."
soobin: "That's kind of terrifying."
girlfriend: "You mean exciting. I'm ready for what's next. Aren't you?"
soobin: "I mean, yes, but aren't you still scared at all of the future? It's so unknown."
girlfriend: "That's why we have each other to figure it out together. Relax. I've got it all planned out." (yawns) "Now, go get some rest. I'm sure you had a stressful day and I know how you're brain gets when it's stressed."
soobin: "Okay. You get rest, too. I know you've been working hard at those tutoring sessions. I'll talk to you soon."
girlfriend: "Bye. Good night."
soobin: "Good night."
