y/n: (turns around) "Of course! What can I..." (laughs) "What can I get you, Mr. Choi Soobin?"
soobin: (laughs) "What's your special for today?"
y/n: "It's lemon squares today. Want one?"
soobin: "I want two. One for me and one for you."
y/n: "Soobin, I can eat these any time I want to. I work here."
soobin: "True. Then make that two for me."
y/n: (snorts) "Two for you it is. So how was practice?"
soobin: "It was good. Tiring but good. I'm glad to be back at it."
y/n: "You look happy. Really."
soobin: "Yeah, I... I think I am, despite everything. Is that crazy?"
y/n: "Not at all. You can be sad if you need to be, but you're allowed to be happy."
soobin: "Thanks. I needed to hear that."
y/n: "That's why I said it."
boss: "[y/n], do you know... oh, hello."
soobin: "Hello."
y/n: "[boss], this is Soobin, my--"
boss: "You visit here all the time, dear. I know who you are."
soobin: "Really?"
boss: "Of course. I'm not that old and dense. You're her boyfriend."
y/n: "Oh, he's not--"
soobin: "No, we're just--"
soobin & y/n: "---friends."
(long silence)
boss: "How embarrassing, I'm so sorry! Well, Soobin, you're welcome to come here any time."
soobin: "Thank you."
boss: "[y/n], I was just going to ask if you knew where the shipment of napkins went?"
y/n: "I put them on the middle shelf near the sink."
boss: "Thank you. And you know what, head on home. You've been working so hard today and it's finally quieted down. Why don't you take off early for the day?"
y/n: "No, I want to help you close up."
boss: "I can close up the store with my eyes closed. Go on now. The both of you."
y/n: "Are you sure?"
boss: "Positive."
y/n: "Thank you so much!"
boss: (waves)
[Y/N & SOOBIN leave]
y/n: "You know, I was thinking about it the other day and the route between school and our complex doesn't intertwine with my work. Why do you go out of your way to come here after practice?"
soobin: "I have a sweet tooth."
y/n: (rolls eyes) "Of course. Soon you'll turn into one giant croissant at the rate you're going."
soobin: (laughs) "Also, it's getting darker faster these days since it's winter. You shouldn't be biking home so late on your own."
y/n: "I have pepper spray. And a very loud scream."
soobin: "Let's hope you never have to use either of those."
y/n: "I can't believe half of the school year is almost over... it went by so fast."
soobin: "Everything's going by so fast."
y/n: "It's surreal. I wish it would stop sometimes."
soobin: "What would you rather: stop time or move time forward?"
y/n: "Hm... stop time."
soobin: "I'd move time forward."
y/n: "Why?"
soobin: "Just to see how I'm doing in the next couple of years. If I'm alright."
y/n: "Of course you'll be alright."
soobin: "You don't know that."
y/n: "I don't have to know it. I can feel it. Look how hard you work and how patient you are. We need more people like you in the world. Trust me."
(silence)
soobin: "...I wonder what [ex] is doing."
y/n: "Do you miss her?"
soobin: "I don't know. Sometimes. But not as much as I thought I would."
y/n: "Basketball keeps you busy."
soobin: "It's not just that, it's... I don't know what it is, but I don't think about her as much anymore. And the crazy part is that I think she barely thought about me anymore, too."
y/n: "But you guys called each other all the time."
soobin: "I know, but our conversations started getting shorter a long time ago. And when we did talk, it wasn't about anything meaningful anymore."
y/n: "I'm sorry."
soobin: "It's okay. I guess we just... we looked at things differently. We felt differently about things."
y/n: "I still hope one day you guys can talk it out. The break up was so messy."
soobin: "You're calling me patient? You're the patient one, considering she tried to sabotage your life."
y/n: "She didn't sabotage my life. She might have hurt a piece of me but not all of me. I can heal myself."
soobin: "Hey." (stops biking) "You can't do that."
y/n: "Do what?"
soobin: "Let yourself heal on your own. I'm here, aren't I?"
y/n: "I-I know... sorry, that's not what I meant. I'm just used to picking up after myself, that's all."
soobin: "That's fine but I just want you to know--"
y/n: "--that you're there for me. I know, Soobin."
soobin: "So you're patient and a know-it-all."
y/n: "Hey!"
soobin: "Kidding."
y/n: "Just for that, you don't get any more sweets next week."
soobin: "Not even a lemon square?"
y/n: "Not even the crumb of a lemon square."
soobin: (laughs) "There's no one else like you, you know that?"
y/n: "I'll answer yes since I'm supposed to be a know-it-all."
soobin: "I was joking!"
