[a/n]: okay so i realized that the girl's name is aria and so far she has been getting 'unknown number texts' and knows who it is, yes, but it sounds like PLL. Hahaha this was not intentional and this is in no means supposed to be like pretty little liars. this has nothing to do with the show and as the story unravels, you will see that it is nothing like the PLL texts from 'A.' okay thanks for reading this lil authors note. continuing reading♥♥
PS// please also tell me what you think of the ending of the chapter bc its like i love it but then i hate it, you feel? so please reassure me or just give it to me straight c:
Chapter 9. Resurfacing the Past
Both Jasper and I keep silent as he drives us down the gloomy, dark and lonely road in his rusty pickup truck. My heart is still skyrocketing as we speak from the traumatic experience that just occured. The wet droplets of water from Nathan's pool drip off of my arms and hair that is pulled down and drops of water fall from Jasper's hair and clothes. I sneak a glance at him when he pulls his truck into the parking lot of the apartment building we both live in.
He shifts his truck into park, pulling his car keys out of the ignition, making the truck sputter down, leaving us both with an intense silence.
"What were you doing there?" he asks quietly.
"What were you doing there?" I repeat his question.
He turns towards me with a small shrug of the shoulders. "I guess I needed a night out."
"I guess I needed to show my parents I could take care of myself; but look how that turned out." I snort without humor behind it, feeling slightly embarrassed for being one of those damsel's in distress.
A guilty mask shades over his features and I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion.
"I.. was the one who told your parents about Kade and Nathan.." he hesitantly admits.
"You, what?" I ask in disbelief, "How did you even know what apartment number was mine?"
"The front desk-"
"Why would you rat me out?" I interrupt him, feeling agitated.
"I just thought your parents deserved to know that those j-"
"That's not your decision to make." I stop him again, firmly.
"Aria, I was only trying to-"
"Forget it," I shake my head and push open his rusty truck door that squeaks when I do so.
"Wait," he speaks up and grasps the back of my arm gently. "Look, I just.."
His hand runs through his dark hair and he flutters his eyes around the truck until he focuses back in on me.
"I'm sorry; your parents needed to know. Keeping something like that from them is dangerous and could end you up with--" he stops mid-sentence with a small, distressed sigh.
We're both left with silence yet again; the only noise coming from my slight shivers an short intakes of breaths from the cold breeze of the night. He curses under his breath and adds an apology at the end of his words as he rolls up my window that let the cold wind into the vehicle. He opens his door and gets out of the vehicle as I follow suit. We both, however freezing we may be, slowly walk to the apartment's front, double-doors as dark clouds form above us in the even darker sky.
He opens one of them for me and I step into the warm building with a slight shiver. We both enter an elevator carrier and he pushes his thumb down on the number eleven, which is my floor number, but I stop him.
