Chapter 10. Truth Be Told
My parents have decided to lock me up in my bedroom without television, friends, or my phone. Little do they know that I barely have any friends, my TV is broken, and I would much rather have my phone out of my sight, seeing as how Gavin is still contacting me. Jasper and I have exchanged numbers, but since my phone has been taken, we haven't messaged one another. I guess sneaking out of my flat really angered my parents that they actually grounded me even though I was already grounded.
I have only three more weeks of school left until summer vacation and that means no more contact with Nathan or his idiotic friend, Dawson; therefore, you could see how I am very eager to have summer come near.
"Aria, someone is here to see you!" Mom calls for me and I roll off of my bed, pulling my headphones out of my ears and exiting my room to head to the front door where Mom stands.
"Oh, hey, Aspen." I greet my friend and she smiles.
"Do you know each other from school?" Mom asks and I nod.
"Just this once, I guess you can go out with your friend, but you better be back here before six o'clock tonight. Your father and I are wanting to have a family dinner; we have some things to discuss." Mom informs me.
"Okay, thanks, Mom." I quickly bid her good-bye and exit the flat with Aspen.
As we walk to the elevators, a thought occurs to me.
"Why did you come over to my flat?" I inquire.
It doesn't surprise me that she knew where I lived, because I did tell her a couple days ago when we were at the library after school, studying for a biology test and we got off track. I learned that Aspen lives with two sisters and another baby sister on the way; her mother is five weeks pregnant. I was also informed that she has a boyfriend named Clayton, whom she has been with for two years strong.
"Considering you were dodging my texts, I thought I would stop by because I heard about what happened at Nate's party.. he's a bit of a-"
The elevator dings just as she cusses and I mentally laugh at the irony.
"Sorry about not replying to any of your messages; I am basically grounded." I shrug.
"That's fine, I just wanted to make sure you weren't in a hospital or dead." she slightly laughs.
Once we exit the large apartment, a faint, distinct argument brews up above us. I glance up to the top floors of the building and notice a couple windows open to various flats, none showing that it is the flat where yelling is coming from. One voice taking place in the disagreement, however, astonishes me, because the voice is a fellow classmate, but this classmate doesn't even live here.
The voice of the classmate is Nathan.

Aspen and I stop at a nearby coffee house that seems mostly abandoned, what with only one worker pouring coffee for the only three customers he has. Sitting ourselves down at a cute table, I place phone down on the establishment and Aspen folds her hands with a small sigh, appearing as though she was a business woman, ready to fire me.
"What's up?" I ask suspiciously.
"Aria.. what happened at your old school, word has been getting around that you're planning on doing another stunt like that again and I-"
"What? No, no, no - I am not." I exclaim in frustration.
"I know, and I have been doing everything I can to stop the stupid rumors, but you should know that Noelle has got the school fooled into thinking you're going to destroy the school." she hesitantly states.
