Chapter 15. Never Trust a Pretty Face

Although I am grounded, I couldn't be happier today because it just so happens that today is the last day of school before summer break. Nothing can stop me from being glee today; not Nathan, not Gavin, not my parents, and not even Kade or Jasmine. Today, being the last day of school and all, makes me excited because I won't have to face anyone in the school anymore after today until of course next year. Then again, I might be seeing Jasper here and there; but you get what I mean.

Dad has been very austere this entire week; first he told me the first night I was grounded that I couldn't have dinner and I was to be sent straight to bed. Now obviously he didn't starve me all week, but that first night he forbid me from being with the family for dinner time because he was furious about my behavior.

I still have no phone in my hands because my parents have it in their own domain. My sister, Sabrina, has been keeping low and trying her best to stay on their good-side because of a lame party her boyfriend is throwing tonight which she insists on not missing.

Anyway, as of now, there is only three more hours until school is out, but in the mean time I am stuck in Spanish class, where I sit in the second row to the back reading my book in silence, hoping my teacher won't notice the fact that I am hiding a different book behind our Spanish textbook.

When the bell rings indicating the end of the class period, the entire Spanish class rushes out of the classroom, as do I, and when I exit the classroom, I run into a certain someone.

"Aspen, hey!" I grin.

"Hey, I haven't seen or heard from you in years!" she laughs, over-exaggerating her words.

"Where have you been?" I inquire.

"Where have I been? Where have you been?"

"Here and there," I shrug.

"Well, seeing how this is the last day of school, I suggest we hang out or something after school or during free period." she says.

"Sure," I agree just as the five minute bell goes off.

"Okay, I have to get going. See you later!" she waves good-bye as she enters another classroom and I myself head the other direction towards my next period class.

A part of me wants to chant "Summer, summer, summer" before the bell rings, just like in High School Musical, but I refrain from doing so, seeing as how I'm not in a musical, and the students here would ridicule me for life. The school bell rings throughout the school building and students everywhere hoot and holler in pure glee.

I spring from my seat and sling my bag over my shoulder and exit the classroom quickly before my strict, sullen teacher decides to change his mind on the idea of no homework over summer break.

When I enter the halls of the school, someone clasps my forearm and yanks me to the side and I scream shortly in surprise. My eyes meet with some familiar dark, cold ones and I know instantly that we're going to have a talk longer than a short minute.

"Kade, what are you doing here?" I whisper, pulling my arm away from his grip.

"I need your help."

"Hey, your lips are pretty pasty. You should get some chapstick, or do something else other than talk to me." I say, turning to leave.

"I need help, please, just hear me out!" he stops me.
