[a/n]: eh. Idk how I feel about this ending. Sighhhhhh.

Chapter 16. Basically Superman

My eyes refuse to open to view my surroundings or whatever is shining brightly against my eyelids, irritating me to no end. My legs and arms feel confined against something cold and damp. Twine, rope, or maybe even a ziptie is strapping my wrists together and same goes for my ankles. Shifting a bit, still keeping my eyes closed, I feel as though I am laying upon a stone cold floor.

"Bring her over here; time to wake the princess up." a familiar voice instructs.

I am suddenly hauled upward and thrown over someone's shoulder. My eyes flicker open and my view is that of a concrete floor. The person holding me abruptly places me down on a chair and Kade's features come into view when he moves away from me.

"Kade? You drugged me! What's going on?" I quickly say, glancing nervously at my wrists tied together with a ziptie and my ankles that are also bound together.

"Ah, looks like she's already awake." a certain voice points out.

"God, no.." I whisper, peering up at Kade who swallows visibly and glances to the man speaking behind me.

Hands rest on my shoulders and I tense, closing my eyes in distress. The presence inches close to my right ear and I shudder when his voice whispers ever so quietly.

"Good to see you again."

"Gavin, what do you want?" I ask, my voice unfortunately wavering in the process.

Gavin comes out from behind me and stands beside Kade in front of me.

"This wasn't essentially my plan to kidnap you; in fact, it was mainly Jasmine Hanks herself.. have you been receiving my messages and calls?"

"Yes."

"Why haven't you replied? It really stung, deep down here." he says, patting his chest.

"That was the plan," I shrug.

He scowls and whistles for Kade to leave him and I alone.

"I'll stand by the door and keep watch for anyone." Kade says, keeping his eye on both Gavin and I.

"Yeah, you do that, Princess." Gavin retaliates.

Kade rolls his eyes and stands by the door on the other side of the room.

"Where are we?" I ask, trying my best to get my hands out of these binds.

"That's irrelevant." he scoffs. "What I want to know, is why it's taking us this long to catch up."

"Screw you." I furiously retort.

He clenches his jaw and places a cold metal knife to my neck, leaning his face closer to mine.

"I would watch what you say if I were you." he threatens subtly.

"Thankfully you aren't."

He drops his knife and uses his hand to clutch my chin tightly. Pure anger flashes over his eyes and his breathing becomes short due to his fury.

"I'm tired of your sass."

"I'm tired of looking at you, so I guess we're both in-"

His hand comes in contact with my cheek and a small squeal of surprise escapes my lips. That same fear and anger runs through my veins just as they used to back when I was dating Gavin. From the corner of my eye I notice Kade with his back turned to the door he was supposed to be watching and his gaze locked on Gavin and I instead.
