The sky was cold that night we set out to sea.

There were no cheers like there had been earlier this afternoon. There were no people to bid us goodbye and sing our praises for the story they had heard.

I wonder if the cheers will be just as loud when we get back?

It was stormy tonight. The waves were heavy though the atmosphere and tension doubled that of the waves.

I wonder if then my father will be proud of me?

Heavy eyelids coupled with the snoring of my comrades was a reminder of what I should've been doing. Sleeping. I was probably going to have trouble waking up in the morning.

I wonder if my mother will smile?

When sleep finally did take, the ship had been rocking back and forth violently. Not that it was really an issue for me though. It wasn't my first time on a boat like this and I knew that if I didn't sleep now, it would never come.

I wonder why something about this night seemed so familiar...?

Almost as if I'd been here before.

A hand on my shoulder grabbed me roughly, suddenly pulling me from my dreamless sleep.

"Reiner!"

I stirred.

Marcel's face was worried as he tried his best to awaken me.

"You need to-

Wake up!"

I peaked an eye open to the freckled faced girl, Ymir. I wasn't on a boat, nor was I in my bed. I must've fallen asleep sometime this morning during breakfast because only a few people were left in the room.

"Come on, Shadis is calling us. I don't want your sleepy late head coming in late and causing the rest of us hard workers to run laps." scowled Ymir.

I nodded.

It was strange. It had been the first time I'd ever fallen asleep at the table like that.

Ymir scowled, mumbling something under her breath.

I followed after her.

We ended up running laps anyway.

"What are you looking at, Reiner?" (Y/n) asked, taking a seat opposite me. She rested her head on her arms as she leaned forward, a curious look in her eyes, "you've been sitting here all day, by now."

I felt my face heat up at the girl's attention.

I had never been too good at talking to girls, especially right now with this certain girl in front of me. I wasn't too sure what it was though that made it so hard for me to speak.

Perhaps it was the way my heart raced as she approached.

Or maybe it was sudden fluttering in my stomach that suddenly appeared whenever her attention lingered.

I always liked her eyes. (E/c) eyes. My mom always said that a person's eye colour could say a lot about them. People with (e/c) eyes were insightful and kind. I didn't believe her at first, and I may not still entirely believe her now, but it was correct for her.

It wasn't just the colour though, it was the determination and purpose that shone through every time she did something successfully. How, when she got knocked down, she could keep that determination.
