Virgil wouldn't be safe with roman.
Heck, they weren't sure if the man before them was even roman anymore.

Together, Virgil and logan charged.

Roman had been practicing combat.
But so had Virgil...

(Logan had been doing sudoku)

Virgil attempted to summon the shadows to his aid, but roman lit up the room so bright, that Virgils powers were rendered utterly useless.

Never mind, Virgil was ok at hand to hand combat...
However it was considerably more difficult to fight someone when there flesh was made of fire.
So in reality the fight swiftly deteriorated into Virgil trying not to be turned into extra crispy barbecue.

Now, you may be wondering exactly where logan was, and why he wasn't helping.
Virgil was wondering that to.

The question was awnsered with a lone gun shot.
Roman and Virgil both looked down at themselves...

Neither of them had been shot so???

A structural beam fell on roman.

Logan smiled sadly.

Virgil looked confused so Logan explained what just happened

"I noticed that the beam he was standing under was starting to fail, so I gave it a shove, and shot the weak point, bringing it down."

"But logan, that wouldn't work in reality"
Virgil let me make stuff up.

Logan shrugged.
"I hope he survived the impact..."
"You mean to tell me you could have killed roman?!"
"Do you really think THAT is Roman?"
"Touché"

They lifted the beam off him, and were somewhat relieved to see he was still breathing.

They loaded him into a car and dialed Emile's number to tell him what had happened.

The car ride back to hq was spent in awkward silence.
The last time Virgil and Logan spent time together was Pattons funeral, after which logan tried (and succeed) to become emotionless, and they'd just found out their friend was insane, plotting to murder millions and (in some dark way) had feelings for Virgil.

So small talk opportunities were slim.

Virgil used the time to work out his feelings.
He'd missed roman, and seriously admired the mans heroism and investment in the greater good.
Did he have romantic feelings for him? No. He might've developed them if he hadn't lost his mind, but he didn't know him well enough before he went insane to harbour romantic feelings for him.
Did he enjoy Romans company? Yes.
Was roman his friend? Yes.
Was the man unconscious in the back seat roman? Not the Roman he knew at least.

But if there was any chance of helping him, Virgil would take it.

As soon as they arrived, Roman was whisked away by a medic named tayln.
A week passed before roman woke up and was ready for questioning.

So who was going to interrogate him?
