Secret Adoption

Summary: Tony and Pepper sign papers to adopt Peter. They were busy that day so they couldn't ask Peter before sending them in. They leave the papers on the counter and someone stumbles upon them and sends them in. Tony doesn't know how to tell Peter.

Pepper and Tony were talking seriously at the table looking through these documents.

Just a few moments ago Tony had brought up an idea to Pepper.

"Pepper?" Tony said, waving over Pepper to the table which had a ton of papers on it.

"Yes?" She said, walking over to the table and looking at the papers "Are these adoption papers?"

"Yeah." Tony said "But before-"

"Yes." Pepper said

"Yes?" Tony repeated, confused

"I see the name Peter Parker. As long as May is okay with it I don't see why not. I love that kid." Pepper said

"Me too." Tony said "Are we seriously doing this?"

"Yeah." Pepper said

Currently, they were looking through papers and going through everything.

"Hey Tony. Peter knows about this right?" Pepper said

Tony kept his gaze on the papers.

"Yeaahh.." Tony said

Pepper looked up.

"Tony." Pepper said "I know you're lying."

"Okay, he doesn't but does that really matter? He already calls me dad and you mom." Tony said

"So your telling me if we sign these papers right now he will be in our custody and not know about it?" Pepper said "How is his signature on here if he doesn't know?"

"I may have tricked him into doing it but I'll tell him soon. When the time is right. He is already living with us since May went to go work in Paris and gave us guardianship. She even brought up the idea to me. That's why her signature is on it too." Tony said

"I don't even want to know how you managed to trick him but I want you to tell him as soon as possible. I'm signing these papers now because I'll be busy and can't do it later." Pepper said

"That's not true. You're signing it now because your afraid he'll say no. I do too. As much as the kid shows we wants us to be his parents we aren't sure if he really does. After all that happened with his parents and if we can even fill in that role." Tony said

Pepper looked down and quickly signed the papers.

"Guess we both know when each other is lying." Tony said as he signed the papers too "But we both know he's going to say yes."

They both looked over everything and smiled at each other.

"The papers are done. All we need to do is ask." Pepper said

"I'm on it tomorrow. I would today but I'm not sure if it'll work since I have so many meetings today." Tony said

They both got up and shared a loving kiss before parting ways. Leaving the documents on the table.

The next day Tony walked into the living room and saw all the Avengers there.

Normally, he wouldn't mind. Proven by his first reaction to just sit down on the couch with them.

They were all grinning at him.

"Alright, if someone doesn't tell me what's going on I'm gonna lose it." Tony said

"We saw the papers on the table." Natasha said

"Peter is now a starkson! Well, not like he wasn't before." Thor boomed loudly

"He will be a great addition to the family." Loki said

"Yeah but the documents are only signed. Peter doesn't know yet." Tony said and then suddenly it hit him. He frantically looked behind him to see if the documents were still on the table.

It wasn't.

"Where are the papers." Tony said in a calm voice but his expression looked the slightest bit worried

"We saw the papers but didn't touch them. Maybe one of us accidentally sent the papers in.." Clint said nervously

Pepper walked in through the elevator and looked at Tony with a certificate in her hand.

"Please tell me Peter knows about this." Pepper said

Tony immediately got up and looked at the certificate.

(A/N: I am not aware of what a adoption certificate looks like but I'm pretty sure you get one once adopted, so here's what I think it says 😂)

Tony looked at the paper. Happiness filling his emotion but also nervousness.

What if Peter didn't want to be adopted?

What if he gets upset and leaves forever?

What if he hates them.

These thoughts came rushing through Tony's head until the elevator door dinged and Peter walked out.

"Hey guys." Peter said and then stopped when he saw everyone's expressions "did something happen?"

"Kid. I'm sorry but we..we wanted to adopt you and we signed the papers. We were going to tell you today since we didn't have time yesterday. But we left the papers on the dinner table so someone took them and handed them in. I'm sorry if you didn't want to be adopted and if you want to be back in May's guardianship we completely understand." Tony said, handing the certificate to Peter

Pepper is right next to Tony with a nervous but hopeful expression. Same with the Avengers behind them.

Peters face showed no emotion as he looked at the certificate until it suddenly filled with smiles as he was laughing hard.

Everyone looked at him confused.

"I'm confused. Why- why are you laughing?" Tony said

"Guys. I know you've been trying to adopt me. I signed the papers too. I didn't show any reaction because Mr. Stark was obviously trying to trick me into signing it." Peter said and everyone's expression brightened "Just so you guys know, I was the one who put the papers in."

"You know as your new legal dad I could obviously ground you right now." Tony said "But you're lucky this time because I'm just so damn happy."

Tony pulled Peter into a hug and extended a hand so Pepper could join. The Starks were hugging for a while before the Avengers came in around them and hugged as well.

They all slowly went from standing up to sitting down hugging.

An interesting way of adoption.
