(Soft)

———

Peter walked in through the Avengers tower and looked around.

Tony was nowhere in sight. Probably in a meeting.

Peter smiled and quickly made it to the lab.

Usually, Peter wouldn't be excited upon hearing his father figure and mentor gone, but he definitely needed him away for this.

"Hey Friday is Mr. Stark in the tower?" Peter asked

"No, Mr. Stark isn't here. He is currently at a meeting across town, but will be back shortly. Would you like me to contact him?" Friday said

"No no! Friday I may look a little sketchy now but don't tell please Mr. Stark anything. I'm doing something." Peter said, hopeful

"I am required to do hourly check ins. Perhaps today I can tell Mr. Stark only that you are home safely and working on something in the lab?" Friday suggested

"That's fine. Thank you Fri!" Peter said, getting to work.

"Your welcome Peter." Friday said

~ Hours later ~

Peter was diligently working on something when the lab doors suddenly opened.

Peter panicked and jumped up, turning around to face his confused mentor and hiding what he had planned behind his back while trying to put his hands on the desk behind him in a relaxed pose that ended up looking awkward.

"H-hey Mr. Stark!" Peter said

"Hey kid. What was that?" Tony said

"Nothing. I was just. Surprised that's all. Friday usually alerts me when your back.." Peter said, playfully glaring in the air as to tell Friday she should've warned him

"Alright. What are you working on?" Tony asked

"Uh. Something boring for my suit. I don't want you to see it, I can make it better later." Peter said quickly and looked away, avoiding eye contact

"Are you lying to me?" Tony said

"Wh-what? No." Peter said, focusing on the wall

"Yes you are. You're stuttering and won't maintain eye contact. Don't know if you know this Peter but that's a habit you have when you lie." Tony said, narrowing his eyes

"It's nothing. I just-"

"Peter turn around." Tony said

"What?" Peter said

"I said turn around." Tony said, crossing his arms. "Now."

Peter looked at Tony and slowly showed him the thing he was waiting to make for his father figure and mentor.

"Happy Father's Day.." He said, holding out a mechanical contraption that says 'Proof Tony Stark has a heart'

Tony immediately softened, his body posture relaxed, his arms were back on his sides and his features were gentle.

He slowly grabbed the mechanical structure and examined it, it was amazing, Peter had managed to do this in an hour and it was the best gift ever.

"I-I know that I could've bought you something that would be way better then my stupid crafts but I mean, your a billionaire and probably have everything so I just- You're like a father to me and since I lost my father and uncle, no one else had really filled in that place, but you stepped in..I look up to you, became inspired by you.. a-and you've helped me and made me better..believed in me when no one else thought a kid could be capable of much..I just wanted you to know that..uhm..you mean a lot to me as a person, mentor and a father..." Peter said

Tony pulled Peter into a tight hug and smiled widely, although almost always seen as emotionless, he let out a small tear. He could feel Peter smile slightly and hug back. Peter was truly one of the biggest lights in his life.

They hugged for a few moments, comfortable silence flowing through the air.

"I love you son." Tony suddenly said

Peters eyes widened.

"I mean it." Tony said

"I love you too dad." Peter said "Happy Father's Day."

Tony smiled. This was his kid.
