Author's Note: I must tell you all. This oneshot has a sequel, so the oneshot about the 'newest' hermit will have to wait.

((This happens during the events of HoS and NOtPY))
Martyn's POV:
" NETTY!" I cried out as I looked around the forest. Netty has been gone for a few hours. I tried calling the other evolutionists, but something was blocking my signal.
Where is she? Why did Netty go searching for Salem? I crossed my arms and shivered. The trees overhead bended to keep me dry, but the cold wind made me shiver as I walked. The mud covered my boots and crawled into them.
I just wanted to go home. I just wanted to get Netty home. My body shivered again as I looked up towards the dark sky, " NETTTTTYPLAYS!" I called out as I looked down at my hands. The tips of my fingers were black now.
The watcher's curse.
I will find Netty. The watcher's at least leave me with my humanity, but I need to find her. If I don't, then the others will never forgive me..... and her brother would kill me.
The world was dark as I held tightly onto a torch. I could hear the spiders hiss and zombies moan as I climbed up the hill. The world seemed much larger than how Grian actually formulated it.
I shivered as I stood in front of a large hole in the ground. Some foggy memories started to come back as I stared down into the vast hole.
-------
" Well, isn't this a fun encounter sweetheart? You with only a heart and barely enough energy to move~"
Naughty Netty cut into my back again. I coughed out blood and whimpered on the cold, stone floor.
The watchers...
They made this cruel version of Netty......
It's so cold....
It's so cold.......
--------------
I shook my head.
Why was I remembering this? When did this happen?
I sighed as I summoned a vine from my wrist. I looked down the hole again and fainted saw a torch light on the ground. Dread filled me as I tied the vine to a nearby tree and descended into the hole.
I'm coming Netty.
((timeskip brought to you by Merman!Q trying to calm down unicorn-guin!S))
Netty laid at the bottom of the hole. I detached the vine from my wrist and kneeled down at Netty's side. The bush baby hybrid faintly opened her glowing eyes, " Mar....Martyn? " she questioned as she put her shaking hand against my face.
" I'm here to get you home Nett..." I told her with a reassuring look as I moved the hair out of her face. Netty looked behind me, and her ears perked up, " D-don't...." she stuttered. I glanced behind me and saw what she was pointing at.
A large cat with its mouth dripping blood stalked behind me. It growled as it moved towards us like the deadly hunter it was. I felt like a bloody deer in the headlights, and due to going into forests, I technically was. I looked down at my hands. The blackness was still there, but the blond-ish fur was growing in tufts underneath my jumper.
The cat licked its lips as I protectively stood over Netty. I held up my torch and growled back at it. When the cat leapt at us, a larger, oranger cat rammed the other into the ground. It helped Netty sit up as she gasped.
" N.....no...." Netty curled up in pain. I ran my hand through her mangled hair as she coughed. I picked her up as I watched the catfight ensue. The felines exchanged blow after blow under the flickering light of our torches. I snuffed out Netty's torch and put it into my inventory.
Netty put her head on my shoulders. Her weakened self shook as she breathed tiredly. The two cats finished attacking each other. The dark colored one stalked away with its limp leg. The other turned towards us.
The winning cat went underneath me and Netty. It huffed and climbed out of the hole. I held tightly onto Netty as we hurried through the woods. The further we rode away from the deep thicket of trees; the more my hands turned back into the five digits I've known.
The three of us rode until daylight broke through the trees. Netty was fast asleep in my arms as the cat leapt up the stairs and stopped inside the property police station. I scooped Netty up and carried her down into the medical area.
Soon enough, Solidarity appeared at my side, " W-what is happening? Wh-why is there that giant cat upstairs?" he questioned in a panicked tone. I looked up at him, " Don't worry about the cat. Get me some pain medicine and bandages." I told him with narrowed eyes.
Solidarity nodded and ran out of the room. I looked down at Netty as she breathed faintly. Her chest rose up and down as her tail twitched. When Solidarity came back, the both of us quickly worked on stitching the opening side wound and other claw marks.
I carefully splashed a healing potion on herself and me. Solidarity looked at me anxiously, " You need sleep, Martyn..." he told me as I shook my head. I put my hand onto Netty's own causing her to give a faint smile, but she didn't wake up.
The two of us looked at each other, " As BigB as said, healing takes time Mart.... Get some sleep." Solidarity told me as he rubbed his eyes, " I'm going back to bed... Maybe that cat was just my tired illusions...." he smirked as he walked up the stairs.
In passing, a lankly, tall man was curly hair, cat ears, and a tail came down the stairs. I stood up, my stance wobbling as I stared up at him.
" Joseph Stampycat Garret...." I mumbled as I started to fall.
