FtU!Iskall's POV:
My tail thrashed as I followed behind Mumbo. As much as I care for this giant cat hybrid, he always had some sort of ridiculous idea that led us into offending someone.
" Mumbo, " I hopped over the log as I continued to follow the cat, " what are you going to show me this time?" I questioned as my ears twitched. Mumbo smiled as he stuck out his tongue. We walked through the forest until he led me to a hill.
My body froze slightly.
The mountains. King Ash had put a ban on us going up there due to that small group of hermits that have been known to attack us forest dwellers.
Mumbo looked at me, " I-I know it seems a bit ridiculous to go up the hill, but the people on the mountains aren't going to see us mate." he reassured me as his tail wagged. I shook my head as Mumbo continued to walk forward. I let out a soft sigh. Oh Mumbo Jumbo, why don't you just tell me your ideas? Why leave it up to suspense?
I shook my head and shivered as the goosebumps attacked my skin. Mumbo's tail was still wagging excitedly as he stopped in a small grove of trees. A strange, metallic and wooden device was using a large boulder as support.
" What... What exactly is this?" I questioned as I gasped for breathe. I was a fit bun, but the higher altitude is killing me. I really wish that we could go up on these almost mountainous hills more often.
If Ash wasn't a predator, I would've challenged him for that throne. For now.... For now though, I just need to be calm and hang out with Mumbo and Stress. Well, I'm with Mumbo currently. Stress didn't want to get rocks stuck in her hooves.
" This? This is something that the king's top inventor patented me to try and make... " Mumbo grinned as his tail twitched. I looked between the machine and Mumbo in silent confusion. The cat lowered himself to the ground and motioned for me to follow. I sat down at the hybrid motioned towards the sky.
A red.... thing was flying through the sky. I tilted my head, " Is that a bird?" I questioned as Mumbo nodded, " Yeah, I wanted to test this thing out, so I decided that you n' I can." he grinned with a small purr.
I nodded at Mumbo silently. I guess that if we do shoot this thing down, then Mumbo doesn't have to eat one of the chickens that Stress was currently breeding. Mumbo was sitting up the device and aiming it towards the flying creature.
With a swift click of a button, an arrow rocketed out of the machine and struck the bird through the wing. It squawked and shifted into a.... Oh shit....
" We just hit one of those cloud people!" I stood up as Mumbo gasped. God, if the king found out about this we're DEAD! I looked to Mumbo as his ears went back, " Oh golly... Oh gosh oh...." he put his head in his hands.
I forced the hybrid up, " Come on Jumbo!" I grabbed both the device and Mumbo before hurrying down the hill. We ran through the woods. If we didn't hide this flying fool, then our heads would be on stakes and war would be upon the world.
We continued to run until we found the body. A brown, yellow, and purple winged man that was covered in blood. The arrow not only pierced his wing but also his body. Mumbo, still shaking, turned the man over and quickly stepped away.
This... blond person... I know him, but I don't... I've seen him, but I haven't...
Thump.
Why does my chest hurt? Why does my head hurt?
I don't know this winged thing from that stupid cloud kingdom. I just know the land and cave people. That's it! That's where my alliances lie. Although, I still feel like I was friends with this guy... maybe in another time.
I looked to Mumbo to find tears in his now puffy eyes. Mumbo's tail was between his legs as I shook him. The cat perked up, " Let's just get him to the farm... we'll figure this out then." I cleared my throat and looked at Mumbo with a nod.
((An hour later provided to you by wolftiger!Mighty sucking on wolftiger!S's tail. S is just on the ground, defeated.))
We arrived at the house late at night. I opened the door and ushered our new 'roommate' and Mumbo into the house. Stress gave us a panicked look, " W-what?" she lead Mumbo down the stairs into the basement.
I explained everything. The device, the hill, the bird, everything! Stress shook her head at us as she surgically removed the arrow from the man's wing. She looked him over as she got some medical supplies and went to work.
" Do you boys realize who you shot down?" Stress questioned as Mumbo and I nervously shook our heads. The sheep turned the man onto his side and slowly removed his sweater revealing the black and purple mark.
Oh fuck....
The Watcher's eye... We...
" WE SHOT DOWN THE GOSH GOLLY DARN PRINCE!" Mumbo shrieked as his fur fluffed up. The cat dropped to the ground and passed out after yelling. Stress and I shook our heads.
" Okay, it's fine... We are a small bunch of people. We can hide pretty well..." Stress sighed as I picked Mumbo up and dragged him to his bedroom upstairs. I quickly walked back down as Stress finished bandaging up the bird.
Stress's tail twitched, " I'm going to go see about Mumbo. Iskall, be a dear and watch after our new resident..." she sighed as I nodded. I sat down in the chair in the corner of the room. The bird twitched slightly as he groaned quietly.
My whole body tensed open as the bird hybrid was starting to mouth something. He breathed heavily as his bloodshot eyes opened as sweat dripped down his ghostly pale face. The prince of the Watchers opened his mouth again...
" Iskall... We... We need.... talk....Sahara... W-where... Mumb...." the bird man's whole body stopped moving as he drifted back into unconscious.
My whole body grew cold at his delirious words.
How did he know my name?
