It had been two weeks since I commissioned Violet. She was surely already back home and had moved onto other jobs, but for some reason I could never get her off my mind.
"Leo...? Ey, snap out of it..."
"Aster, I told you to stop calling me Leo. My name is Leon." Aster was a friend that I had met on my travels. Specifically, she had gotten caught up in a war zone a while ago and got shot on accident. I nursed her back to health and she's constantly reminding me that she owes me her life, even though the likelihood of her dying from the shot was nearly zero. She was short and skinny, but incredibly agile and used to work as an assassin in the war.
"So how'd it go with, Miss Violet, Leon?" Aster playfully elbowed me and gave me an awkward smirk.
"I'll just say that girls that are named after flowers are tough to crack." I gave Aster a side eye glance, then looked ahead once again, "Especially the purple ones."
"Hey, hey, hey, no need to be malicious, now. You know, I take deep offense to that." Aster bent down and picked a purple flower off the ground, then shoved it in my face.
"You just murdered that flower." I rolled my eyes and gently pushed Aster's hand away.
"Looks fine to me!" Aster neatly placed the flower in her bangs, carefully weaving the stem into a strand of her short, black hair.
"That's because when you take a flower too far from where it belongs it dies on the inside. Then, the farther you take it, the more the damage you've done will start to show." I put my head down as Violet crossed my mind once again.
"Geez, when did you become a philosopher. Maybe you should go back to the library or whatever." Aster picked another flower off the ground, this time, a yellow one, and weaved it into my hair.
"You can't get rid of me that easily, Aster." I flicked her forehead and she glared at me angrily, and let out a small, cute groan.
"Darn, I was really hoping it would work that time." Her anger dissipated quickly and her awkward smirk returned.
