I have been working since morning, and today is a very busy day. Who have thought that at New Year's Eve, there will be a lot of patients? Even more than the usual. That's why nobody wants to take the shift. But since I am single and I live alone in this city, I am willing to take it. At least if I stay at the ER, I won't be alone.

Around 10 pm, a very gorgeous man comes into the ER with a baby. The man looks confused. He looks out of place. Well, he is using 3 pieces of a suit in the middle of the ER. I bet it was an expensive suit.

"Hi, my name is Dr. Brown. Can I help you, Sir?" I introduce myself to the gorgeous guy.

Oh. My. God. Now seeing him up close, I could see that he is very handsome. He has blue eyes,  dark hair, and five o clock shadow. Don't let me start with his body. I wonder how many hours he spent time at the gym. He's a foot taller than me. And he smells so good. I wonder how it feels to be in his hold.

Focus now, Ana.

"Yes, please. Can you look at her? She won't stop crying. And I don't know what to do."

"Ok, let me check her."

I check her vital signs, do some examinations, while trying to calm her.

"Okay, okay, don't cry sweetheart.  What is her name"

"Shannon"

"How old is she?"

"Umm... I don't know exactly, but less than a year." I groan.

Can you believe that? I guess money can't buy your brain.

"You don't know your own daughter age?"

"I'm not-"

"How long has she been having flu?" I cut him.

I don't need him to explain anything to me. It just irritates me when a father doesn't care about his own kid.

"She has flu?"

I sigh. This is going nowhere.

What a poor baby, has a father who doesn't give a shit to her.

Then the baby cries harder. It looks like she doesn't agree with my action.

But what kind of father that doesn't know his own daughter age?

While I'm trying to calm her down, I explain to him.

"She has inflammation in her ear. Sometimes it happens when a child has flu. That's why she keeps crying. She is burning up and the inflammation hurts her badly. You have to carry her like this. Put her head higher. It will help. And you have to stay calm."

Eventually, the baby stops crying.

"Wow, you're an angel. Everything I do, won't make her stop crying."

"Okay, so I will give you some prescription for her illness. Antibiotics, ear drop, and other medications. Please give her the ear drop every 8 hours. And the antipyretic...." I keep talking.

"Do you have any questions, Sir?"

But he just stares at me like I have two heads.

"Yes, could you please write it down on how to take the medication? I'll just give it to her mother because I'm busy and I'm going to Atlanta." He answers.

I give him my exasperated sigh.

"You know, it takes two to make a baby. You have the same responsibility as her mother." I snap.

I know I'm rude. But in my opinion, you have to take care of your own child. Don't start making a child if you're not ready for it. It takes a big responsibility. I've seen it every day. Parents don't care about their own children. They think if they have money, they can just hire a nanny and voila! The child grows into a beautiful, smart, good person. They need attention. Love.

"Look, doc, I've been trying to tell you, I'm not-"

Suddenly a very beautiful woman come inside the ER. She looks afraid and on the verge of crying.

"Nathan! Nathan! Shannon!" She screams.
