3 months later

"So how was your date?" My mother asks.

"Oh, mom. You scared me. I thought you have slept already."

I just came home from my date with Nathan. We have dated several times now. He is a very gentleman. I thought it was going to be a one time date. But it turns out we really liked each other.

"You know how it is, Mom. Nathan is a very wonderful man. Sometimes I wonder if it's a dream come true. He's out of my league, Mom."

"No. You're a nice woman. You deserve him, my dear."

"Mom, can I ask you a question?"

"You just did."

"Mooommm.."

She laughs. "Go ahead."

"So, Nathan asks me if he can meet you. And he also asks me if I want to meet my family. Do you think that's too fast?"

"What's important is not what do I or other people think. It's what you think."

"I really like him, Mom."

"Okay, so what bad thing will happen if I meet him or you meet them?"

"I'm afraid that they will think I'm a gold digger because we just dated for three months, Mom."

"Sweetheart, nobody will think like that after they meet you. You've been over analyzing things. Stop it, Ana. Enjoy life. Let loose."

"I'm afraid, Mom."

"You can invite him to dinner this Saturday if you want."

"Really, Mom?"

"Yeah. Now go sleep. You have a morning shift tomorrow."

Nathan comes to my house for dinner on Saturday. I can see that my mom likes him. I can see her approval eyes. I never bring any man to meet my mom. I don't know why I do this, it just seems right.

"So, can you tell me about Ana's childhood, Mrs. Brown?" We are now at the dinner table eating dessert.

"Call me Ally, please. And I have something to tell you." My mom goes to her room.

"Your mom is really nice," Nathan speaks to me.

"Thank you," I mutter.

"Here it is," my mom comes to the dinner table while carrying a photo album.

"Oh, mom, not that." I know what that is. Those are my photo albums. Some of the photos are horrible.

"Hush now. Let me show you, Nathan."

And then they start to talk about my photos. They laugh at some of the embarrassing photos. I'm embarrassed already. Sometimes Nathan glances at me and he smiles.

After 9 pm, mom goes to her room and leaves us alone in the living room.

"Thank you for inviting me," Nathan says.

"Thank you for coming," I reply.

"I like your mom's cook. But my favorite is the photo album."

I throw a pillow at him.

"Shut up."

Suddenly he grabs my hand and pulls me to him.

"What are you doing?"

He keeps pulling me until I'm sitting on his lap.

"Nate!" I whisper to him.

He touches my face and moves hairs that were on my face.

"You're really beautiful," Nathan says. I can feel heat spreading to my face.

"I really like you, Ana."

"I like you too."

"I never feel this way." I see his eyes. He seems sincere.

"Me too. This just seems unreal."

"I don't like spending a day without you. You're very addictive." I chuckle.

"Which one is worse your chocolate addiction or me?"

"Definitely you."

He caresses my face and then he looks into my lips. The next minute, he kisses me. It was a sweet kiss. I open my mouth and kiss him back.

"Can I invite you to my parents' house?"

"I'm not sure, Nate."

"Why?"

"Isn't it too fast?"

"Sometimes I think this is not fast enough."

Is he talking about... future?

"Do you think that's a good idea?"

"Yes. My parents would love to see you. And you have seen Jenny."

"Okay, I will see your parents. When?"

"How about two weeks from now?

"Okay. What should I wear."

"Dress casually. You look great in everything."

"Okay."

My heart beats fast. Honestly, I'm afraid.
