"Mr. Smith," somebody calls me.
"Yes?" I turn around to see who calls my name.
"Hi, I'm Dr. Lee," he introduces himself. So the director is here already. I'm not finished spending time with my son yet. I sigh.
"Hello, Dr. Lee," I nod my head and shake my hand with him with Parker still in my hand.
"So you like children," he points at Parker.
"Yeah." I like children. But I love my son more.
"This is Dr. Davis's son. She's a pediatrician in this hospital." Our son. I want to shout at him.
"She's a good doctor," He elaborates and smiles. I think he has a crush on my woman.
"I'm sure she is," I answer him with the pissed look. He looks confused with my reaction.
"I'm sure every doctor here is good doctor," I elaborate more.
"Yeah, yeah, sure. So are you ready to see the hospital?" He asks looking excited. I'm not.
"Sure," I give Parker to Martha. He starts to pout.
"I'll see you soon, Parker, I promise," I whisper to him and kiss his lips. "Take good care of him, Martha," I ask Martha.
"I will, Sir," she says while smiles at me
And then we start our walk. "So, are you married, Mr. Smith?"
"Yes," I answer him.
"Any children? Boy? Girl?" Why is he so noisy?
"Yes. A son," I say proudly.
"Ah. That's why you like Parker. He reminds you of your son, isn't it?" He. Is. My. Son. I try to calm my temper. It's not his fault he doesn't know.
"Parker? So you know every child of your staff or is it because Parker is Dr. Davis's son?" I tease him. He blushes. So I'm right. He likes my woman. Too bad for him. She's mine.
He chooses to change the subject. He did the right thing. If he continues to speak about my family, I don't think I can handle it. I'm going to snap right there.
He leads our way and explains all about the hospital. It is a nice hospital. Not as nice as the previous hospital where Ana worked though. He introduces me to some of the staff. I know some of the women look at me differently. But I'm not interested in any of them. I'm longing for my blonde, beautiful, smart woman. The mother of my son.
When we arrive at the pediatric ward, I ask Dr. Lee.
"Where's Dr. Davis? It's her ward, isn't it?" I ask, don't care if I sound too obvious. I'm here for them.
"Oh, yeah, but she has a lot of patients. Especially on Monday. That's why she stays in her room. Do you want to meet her?" He looks curious.
"Oh, no. Not now. Let her finish her work. I'll see her when she's not busy. Will she be busy tomorrow?" I get his attention. I'm going to see my woman whether he likes it or not.
"I can arrange to transfer the patients to other doctors if you want," he tries to sound not jealous. But his face looks otherwise.
"Yes, that sounds good. Do that, please," I smile widely.
"But I need to know, why do you need to see her? Is it about a private matter? If it is, you-," he doesn't look happy about me meeting her.
"Oh, it's not. It's a business matter. I want to expand the pediatric ward. I need to know what the pediatrician need, don't you think?" I mock him. I can buy this hospital if I want to.
"Of course! I'll let her know that you'll meet her," his eyes are widened. If I could see it more closely, maybe I could find a dollar sign in his eyes.
"Don't do that, please. I want to tell her more privately. I'll wait for her in her examination room tomorrow. I hope you don't mind. I mean, I don't want to spend my money in the wrong place, " I smirk.
"Yeah, sure." He looks so happy. I could see him jumping up and down in his head.
The next morning, I come early. I find her room. A nurse stops me from getting inside. I explain to her that I already have approval from Dr. Lee.
"Oh, you're Mr. Smith? Yes, Dr. Lee told me about you. I'm sorry, Sir. I don't know you're the benefactor," she apologizes and looks worried.
"You're just doing your job. No need to apologize," I smile at her.
I wait for Ana in her room. I smile when I see her room. It's a small room but she makes it comfortable. There are some toys for the patients I think. There are also some pictures. It's the hospital staff's picture. I recognize Dr. Lee. He was standing too close to my woman in every photo. I don't like it.
I also see some of her pictures with Parker. I feel sad, I should be in this picture. I will make sure that I will be included in each of their pictures from now on. I already lost 1 year. No more.
I wonder how her pregnancy was. I read on some books about complications that could happen during pregnancy especially if the mother is stress. I was scared. But now I see Parker is fine. So there should be no problem, right? I will make sure that during her next pregnancy, I will stand by her side.
