Hello, Lovelies,

I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday!  Thank you for joining me and thank you so much for reading Singed.  It means so much that you are reading this series.  It may not be my most read story but it is important to me because I came up with the idea for this story when I was young.  It was the first story idea that made me think being a writer was possible.

I do hope you enjoy this chapter.  If you do, please consider voting.  Comments are deeply appreciated.  If you have any questions, comment or leave me a message.

I opened my eyes to find Dimitri walking away as Clementine stood motionless, watching him with sad eyes. A tear rolled down her cheek as she took a shuddering breath.

"He doesn't know, does he?" Mary asked stepping from the shadows, her eyes filling with tears.

"You know we don't speak of such things," Clementine said, wiping away her tears with her fingertips, "But regardless, Elenore was right. The church must be stopped, and this is the only way our descendants have a chance to live."

"And you know that to do this curse," Clementine said, softly, "To enact it, our descendants must be perfect matches. To create magic, you have to give up something. The more the consequence of that magic, the bigger the sacrifice we must make."

"I wonder if they will see this as our sacrifice," Mary said, frowning, "It does seem as if the consequences are on them."

"They will be magical creatures...Created by fate," she said, straightening, "Human yes but still magical. There were always going to be some consequences. They were going to face death regardless because of the spell we cast to pass down our powers to them. At least this gives them a chance to have a long life."

My eyes widened as the world shuddered. Clementine faded but Mary remained, turning toward me. Her eyes still held tears.

"What the hell was she just talking about?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"A benefit you may see as a curse because now, you have a choice where there wasn't one before but it's not an easy one," Mary said, causing me to grit my teeth in frustration.

"Quit talking in riddles," I said, raising my chin.

Mary sighed as she stepped closer to me, "Because the original coven wanted to pass our magic down to our descendants to stop the church, we cast a spell, but the spell had consequences," she said, frowning, "Our descendants would get sick and die young."

"You're saying I'm dying," I said, my stomach churning with fear.

"Yes, you're dying," she said, sadly, "But Elenore knew a way to stop the curse on us by having the vampires become soulmates to witches. It would help them both rid the world of the church to combine their powers, but it gave a solution to the consequences of the magic we cast to pass our gifts down to our descendants. They would have a choice to live."

My eyes widened as I suddenly understood, "You're saying if we become vampires, we're safe."

Mary nodded, "Which means Lanie is the only one who has beat the side effect of being the receiver of our magic."

"Are you saying I have a choice, but it's become a vampire or die?" I asked, shaking my head as anger slithered through me, "You should have told me sooner."
