Tristan hasn't been here by my side for a long time and none of the guys from the gang has said anything to me about his whereabouts. By the time it had gone five, Miles came into the room and told the other people from the gang to go since he was there and they were sceptical about it since they didn't know that Miles and Tristan actually were kind of getting along but they left him with me in the end. Miles wouldn't tell me anything but I could tell he was tired of this day, he wasn't the only one I'm guessing.
'Why don't you go home? I'll be alright here myself.' Miles yawned making his mouth so big that you could see each and every one of his teeth before shaking his head at me. 'No point of me going home, you're here and Kaden's with Blake and Layla so might as well stay with you.' I gave him a pointed look which he returned with a look that meant "what the hell did I do?"
'You need sleep Miles, go home.' I said, laughing a little. He mumbled something before shaking his head and looking away but then he looked towards me with an evil smile, 'I know you might not want to see her but mom is in the room two floors above, want to go prank her?' I gave him a pointed look again but he only grinned at me before helping me get out of bed.
'Miles, this isn't a good idea!' I hissed at him when we got out of the room but he paid no attention to me as we ran upstairs to where mom's room would be. There was no need for me to have a wheelchair because my legs were fine but running made my heart beat faster than it normally should because one, I didn't want to see her and two, the floor was really cold.
'This is it.' Miles said before knocking on the door three times, holding my hand in the process before he opened the door and walked in to see our mom reading a magazine but it didn't look as if she was bothered about what was in the magazine. 'Hey.' Miles said. Mom rearranged herself on the bed, smiling broadly at Miles before noticing that I was there but she didn't have an angry face one, in fact I didn't know what to call this face she had on.
'Come in, I was bored out of my mind.' She laughed but it was filled with no humour. We both came inside the bland looking room and Miles took a seat away from me, pushing me to go to the seat near her bed which I reluctantly did even though I really didn't want to. The room was silent for a couple minutes and it was starting to become awkward so to avoid the stares, I looked down at my hand and fiddled that was until I heard something from the other side of the room.
Miles was fast asleep in one of the chairs next to mom's bed, snoring loudly with his neck craned a little to the ceiling and his mouth opened in an 'o' shape making me wonder how the hell did he manage to fall asleep so quickly but then again, he was pretty tired. That's going to hurt in the morning, I thought as I giggled. I heard mom laugh next to me making me look at her to see that she was looking at Miles and laughing. 'He always used to sleep anywhere, even on the side of an armchair.'
'Oh yeah, I remember the time where he said he was sleepy and next thing you know, he fell asleep on the stairs.' We both laughed remembering the time when Miles came home from school when he was nine and I was seven or six and he was going to go to his room to sleep but then ended up falling and sleeping on the stairs. Miles made a weird sound at the back of his throat before moving his position on the chair.
'How are you feeling?' She asked me while looking at the non existant bruises on me. I have never heard her ask me that in my entire life and now that she was concerned about me, it made me feel like she was trying to hard but I still didn't tell her to back off or tell her she was trying a little too much. I shrugged and said, 'I should be asking you that.'
'I'm hooked up to machines, I'll be fine. My heart's still young so it shouldn't be too much of a problem for now.' She said before looking at Miles again. Mom wasn't that old, I mean she only had us when she was only twenty but at forty four years old you could tell that she was aging with the wrinkles forming around her eyes and mouth.
'I'm sorry for coming and telling you about William. I'm sorry about his death too.' I said, looking down at my fiddling fingers, trying not to look at mom's gaze as I remembered the night we had the family dinner and even though they didn't look as if they loved each other, mom still wanted William as William wanted my mom, even though it may have been for other reasons.
'Kihanna, that...that wasn't entirely your fault. In fact, I'm happy that you came and told me what he had done but I just couldn't help but feel like my life wasn't as lucky as I hoped for it to be the day I hit eighteen.' Mom looked away from Miles and now she looked as if she was trying to remember something or she was in her own world as she explained to me.
'When I married your dad, I knew that I would be getting into a lot of trouble if I messed with him but I didn't seem to care because I was still young. We didn't have the best marriage, everyone knew that but we still continued to live our unhappy lives because there was no point in a divorce. He loved you and Miles but I was just too selfish and wanted more.
'Girls would have wanted a bad boy and so did I but I didn't want to have kids that young, I still wanted to do so many things and I couldn't because there was danger everywhere and I had two kids to take care of and there was just no time. Just when William came into my life, I thought that there was a decent guy out there that actually wanted me and not only for sex but he only wanted to hurt you. And I'm sorry for that.'
'Mo-'
'You lost your best friend, Kihanna. You lost your best friend because I took up your time during that argument, if we didn't argue and if I just accepted the fact that I no longer had luck in my life then you wouldn't have been bruised and William would have been caught and so would have Leah. She would have been alive.'
'Mom, it still isn't your fault. If I told Tristan beforehand then, then things would have been different.' I understood where she was coming from but that's not the thing she should be blaming herself for out of all the things she's done since me and Miles were born.
'How's my grandson doing?' My eyes wandered over to her with surprise. This is practically the first time she's called Kaden her grandson and she didn't even sound sarcastic or rude, she honestly meant it. 'H-he's fine. He's with Layla and Tristan's best friend. Layla got a tattoo for Kaden, it's really beautiful now that's she's got it finished.' I said, smiling when I remembering seeing the finished piece of work.
'Kaden's a special one, isn't he?' Mom said but she didn't realise how special Kaden was; not only was he the gang leader's kid but he was also my kid. The girl that got touched when she was little by random men who told her that no one was ever going to want her now that she wasn't pure. Tristan doesn't even know that he was practically the first guy I ever had sex with.
'Yeah, being a gang leader's kid. He's the only one I would die for, for now.' I said and after a second of saying that, I noticed mom's posture changing. 'I know I didn't treat you guys right but...I don't know how else to apologise to you guys.'
'You don't need to apologise. You weren't there for me when I was younger so you can make that change now, as soon as you get out of the hospital.' I said, giving her a look that cannot make her say no to me because she wasted a lot of her life trying to make herself feel better, now it was time to change that for her kids.
Third Person P.O.V (Aimee is in labour)
The sound of little cries filled the room, joined by its mother as the baby was brought up to the nurse to hold her when she got cleaned up while the doctor cleaned up and stitched whatever was needed on the young mother. Another nurse came by and wiped away the stuff that was on the little baby as the cries got louder and louder and it was then that the nurse announced the gender of the baby to Aimee and Max,
'Congratulations, it's a girl.'
