Thirsty. That's all I could think of. I was extremely thirsty. That, and Sheldon was humming one of our songs to herself. It was so out of key though that I couldn't place which but all she ever hummed was Adore You by Harry Styles or one of our songs. And this definitely wasn't Harry. Not that she could carry a tune long enough to really tell. I rolled over and saw her making sure her stuff was all packed up. She seemed to be in a good mood, which was surprising. She usually wasn't thrilled when we went out drinking. She also wasn't fond of me coming into her room when I was drunk but that wasn't my choice. If I remembered right, which I might not be, it was Mike who brought me to her.
I glanced toward the window and saw it was dark outside still. I wondered if she had slept at all before it was time to get up. I didn't remember her getting in bed, but the Goonies was over so it had been at least a half hour since I fell asleep.
"Oh good, you're awake." She said quietly. She was usually horrible to us when we were hung over. "Go get your band mates. It's time for yoga." I frowned and sat up slowly. She was being too nice.
"You usually aren't quiet, and usually turn on the lights and are just horrible to us when we're hung over." I rubbed my eyes and turned to put my feet on the floor.
"It's literally 5am. I'm not about to wake up all the other people in the building." She said tilting her head at me. God she was cute. "Go." I stood up and tried to ignore my inability to stand up straight which was progressively more and more obvious.
I got into the hallway and tried to knock on a door. I had to still be drunk because when I went to knock I missed. Twice. When I finally did it turns out it wasn't even one of the rooms I was trying to get to.
"Good morning!" Lennon said happily. I squinted my eyes and frowned. There appeared to be an extra lump in her bed but I didn't remember anyone new coming back with us.
"Sorry. Looking for Calum." I said with a slight slur. I turned around to go down a door but Lennon stopped me.
"Oh! He's here." She was so awake? Why was he in there? He sat up and looked over before getting up only to puke in the tiny trash can next to the armchair. Did they fuck?
"Hey, it's Yoga time." I said with some difficulty. He gave me either a thumbs up or a middle finger, I'm not sure which but a reaction is all I needed. I took that as good enough and stumbled to the other's rooms.
"Can I join for yoga?" Lennon asked as I trudged down the hall back towards Shel's room. I shrugged and pointed to her doorway.
"Ask her." I groaned as Shel came to the door.
"Ask her what?" She asked with a mug full of coffee. There wasn't much Sheldon did every day but a cup of coffee every few hours was definitely a habit of hers.
I walked past her with Cal, Luke, and Mike behind me.
"I swear I'm never drinking again." Luke said, like he does every time. Michael assumed the stretching/sleeping position while Calum actually tried to do the yoga.
Sheldon went through the regular poses and I tried to follow her this time. I wasn't distracted by her, surprisingly. I was more distracted by Calum being distracted by Lennon. Lennon, much like Sheldon, apparently tried to do yoga every day, so she was just as good at it as Shel was. And seeing Cal drool over her made me wonder if I looked like that drooling over Sheldon.
I shrugged the thought off and tried to focus. That backfired because eventually I was looking at Sheldon again.
About 15 minutes of Yoga later Hellen and Daisy came in to tell us it was time to go. And by time to go they meant it was time to get on the bus and drive for 12 hours.
I was regretting the bus idea. Three extra hours of sleep and yet I felt like I hadn't slept at all. I wasn't hung over, surprisingly, but that didn't mean I didn't want to die any less.
Parker came onto the bus with a bag of fast food and coffees. Parker was our runner. He was nice and all but he was bland, and obsessed with this game, Spelunk. He apparently made it up with two of his friends and they added to it over the years. He claims the version he wants us to play is the best one yet.
He handed out the coffees and we all sat down in the loungey area to eat. Sheldon was looking at her phone smiling in that sweet/sad way that made me know she was talking to William.
It was strange. I felt very present watching Michael and Calum understand even the most basic of the rules for Spelunk, while Luke and Lennon talked about how hard rhyme schemes are, and Sheldon texted with (presumably) her boyfriend. I felt very there, but very absent as well. I took a long drink of coffee, letting myself fall into my brain farther, truly a dangerous game.
"Ash." Sheldon snapped in front of my face. "Do you want to watch a movie?" She asked like she had said it 5 other times. I zoned in right as she said it a 6th.
"Sorry." I blinked and looked around. Everyone else had moved on but their trash was still laying around so it hadn't been too long. "That depends on the movie." I smiled at her. She grabbed my hand and pulled me to the living area at the back of the bus.
She had a habit of picking the same movie no matter what's going on. But that was just Sheldon. She was a creature of habit, even though she thought she was spontaneous. She read through some of the titles on the netflix and she sighed.
"Wanna just watch the Goonies?" She asked. That was her movie. I don't know that I've ever watched that without her in the room. She tried to prank me with telling me she had a goonies tattoo but she loved the idea so much she got one. It's a high quality tattoo of Chunk doing the truffle shuffle on the back of her forearm. I told her she would regret it but I'm not sure I've ever been that wrong.
"Sure, I'm always up for the Goonies." Her face always lit up when it started. I knew her commentary about the movie better than I knew the actual script.
"Okay but why is everyone else doing something that makes sense with their character?" She would always ask when Stef was headfirst in the crab barrel thing. "There doesn't seem to be any other information on why she was doing that." She shook her head slowly. Thankfully she didn't expect any response, she never did.
By the time they were in the caverns pulling on the pipes she was asleep. She had her head on my shoulder and an arm thrown over me. I sighed. I missed this.
Before we asked her to be our stylist we were talking about being together. We had gone on a few trial dates that went really well but as soon as she was our official stylist she said we had to break it off.
I put my head on hers and decided to go to sleep too. We had quite a ways to go before we got to Sydney.
