My Arrogant Boss

Chapter One

I've been at the police station for two hours now, and I feel so unfair in this society. I just tried to protect myself and the pathetic child, and I am at this place instead of that fucking man.

"I am a man with fame and fortune." I still hear his unashamed voice, cringing with his words, I close my eyes.

"Man with fame and fortune my ass." I think to myself, not believing in what he said.

I feel very frustrated right now. I want to leave this place, but how? I have no siblings, parents. I have only Jisoo, but she is at work. 

I know she couldn't concentrate on her work because of me, and that's why I don't want to be her burden anymore. I want to get out of this by myself. But, can I? I laugh at my thought.

Jennie, are you crazy? Do you even have enough money or people to affirm that you weren't wrong and told the police you did it just to protect yourself from that filthy man?

"Excuse me, ma'am. Someone wants to meet you." One of the policemen unlocks the door, telling me.

I wonder who that someone is, or maybe it's Jisoo. I smile at my thought, changing my expression from happy to a little sad because I know she will have a problem with her work later.

I come out, roaming my eyes to find Jisoo, but I don't see her. "Where is she?" I ask the man beside me.

He points to the room in front of us, telling me to go in. As I step in, I see a woman with expensive clothes and a brand new handbag on a table in front of her. By looking at her, I think she is a very wealthy woman. She's about fifty years old but still looks beautiful.

Well, the power of money.

She gives me a small smile, "Nice to meet you, Miss. Kim."

"Sorry, why do you know my name?" I ask in confusion.

"I think I know more than that. Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, Right?" She answers in a calm tone like nothing happened while I gasp in surprise.

"Sorry, but wh-"

"Well, don't be afraid." She cuts me off and laughs a little.

"I am not scared; I am just curious." I look at her straight in the eyes to show that I'm not affected. If she wants to be like that man in the coffee shop, I will show her what I have gotten.

"Calm down, Ruby Jane. I come here with good intentions." Giving me a small smile, she points at the chair in front of me, gesturing for me to sit on.

I sit, "What good intentions that rich people can have, then?"

"Don't you think your perspective is too harsh for me. Well, let's make it short. I come here to make a deal. The good one that you will never get another in your entire life, Ruby Jane." She grins softly, showing her perfect teeth even if she's not that young.

"Okay, Let's see what you've got, Ms." Looking at her, I put my hand under my chin, trying to guess what the good thing she's going to talk about.

"Straightforwardly, I want to hire you as my daughter's PA, and-"

Curiosity kills me. I cut her off in the middle of the sentence because It's unbelievable that I am literally in the police station and soon in prison. Suddenly, someone just comes here to offer me a job. "Why?"

"Let's me finish first, Ruby Jane. I'll start by introducing myself. I am the owner of the Manoban company in Seoul, the biggest one in Korea. I have only one daughter, the sole heir of our generation, but she is a little messed up with her life lately since she graduated. She is a smart young woman who can manage our company, but I don't really trust her with her bad attitude, so I want you to be her PA. I can see that you are qualified for this position." She finishes by talking about her daughter with sad eyes.
