JENNIE

"Please," She pouts cutely, looking into my eyes.

I don't know how to do or react to her because I can't even feel my face right now. Lisa Manoban, the sole heir of the biggest company in Korea, asks me to be her girlfriend. Is that even real?

"Lisa, don't act like a child. Get up!"

She shakes her head rapidly as she holds my hands in hers, "I won't if you don't agree to be mine."

Well, this girl is a child. Sometimes, I think she looks like a child than the actual one. "I don't think I-,"

"What?" She cuts me off, taking a deep breath in anticipation. I look behind her as I see Mrs. Manoban standing there and looking at us. I start to get panic, but I feel more relaxed as I see her nodding her head and smiling at me. I smile back as Lisa glances back to see her mom.

"Mom, what are you doing, here?" She asks her mother, still kneeling down.

Mrs. Manoban walks closer as she teases Lisa, "Oh, daughter. You can stand up while talking to your mom." She looks at me and winks playfully.

"Mom, I am not talking to you. I am asking Jennie to be my girlfriend." She says bluntly as my cheek burns and looks away from her. "And, I won't get up if she doesn't agree." She adds.

"Lisa, I have never known you want to have a real date one day. I am so proud of you, daughter." Her mom says, catching me off guard. So, she never has an official girlfriend before?

"Jennie," Mrs. Manoban calls me as I look at her in participation.

"Have you agreed to her, yet?" She asks as I shake my head slightly. She smiles and continues, "I know you don't believe her because of her past, but I can assure you that my daughter is really falling in love with you."

"But-" I am about to protest before she leans in and whispers to me, "Jennie, give my daughter a chance. This monkey wouldn't kneel in front of you if she doesn't love you. She has never done that before."

"Mom, don't try to humiliate me!" Lisa yells from behind as we both burst into laughter.

"So, you have decided that you don't want to be my girlfriend?" She asks, looking down at her knees.

"Yes," I mumble as she raises her head, gazing at me instantly, "What?!" She asks.

"I mean I would like to give us a chance, and yes, I will be your girlfriend." I say shyly. She gets up as she hugs me tightly in front of her mother, "Thank you, thank you,"

Mrs. Manoban clears her throat as Lisa pulls away, "What did you say, mom?" Her brows curve up in confusion.

"Nothing, I just said that my daughter is a good girl, but don't make me feel ashamed in the future, okay? Stop acting like you are single and hanging out every night!" Mrs. Manoban says in a serious tone.

"Okay, thank you. Mom." She replies as she hugs her mother. "Jennie, come here." Mrs. Manoban calls me to come closer as she hugs the both of us. I've never felt this warmth before. I didn't feel this since my mom and dad had left me. I always wonder what it feels to be in my mother's arms when I see others hugging their mothers, and now I feel it, and I love it.

She pulls us away and grins at me, "Jennie, if Lisa does something wrong, call me, okay?" She says and smiles again as she sees Lisa pouting at her in a childish way.

"Okay, I gotta go, now. So, you guys go back to the party or head home?" She asks.

"I think we head home because it's midnight now. Mom, please tell dad a goodbye for me. It's dark now."
