JENNIE
I am taken aback by the sound of my coffee shattering on the floor. My mouth falls open as I look at Lisa standing near my desk.
"Don't look at me like that! I-I a-am-" She stutters, looking away from me as I cut her off, "I didn't say anything." I stand up and walk to her as a realization hits me.
I know Lisa so well. She wouldn't be terrified if she didn't do anything wrong. "Tell me why did you do that?"
She curves her brows up in an innocent way as if I don't know what is going on inside her head. "I didn't do anything. It's just an accident."
I walk closer to her as she steps backward, "Really?"
"I can buy and give it back to you if you want." She grins slyly at me. "I don't want it back. I want the truth!" I say in a serious tone.
"What the truth?" She asks. "Come on, tell me or I won't talk to you the whole day. Admit it." I give her a death glare as her face becomes horrified.
"If you don't want, it's okay, though," I say and turn my heels away from her as she is behind my back now. "Okay, I will tell you the truth." She says as she heaves a deep sigh. I try to suppress my smile before facing her again.
She looks at her feet and mumbles, "I hate it when he brings you coffee." I scowl at her statement. I know she is the one who did this damage, and I hope she would tell me that she did it unintentionally, but it looks like my intuition is not right, though.
"What's wrong with you?" I ask, still scowling at her. "I've already told you, haven't I? She talks like nothing happened. She goes to sit on my chair with both her legs on my desk as if I am not here.
Whenever she does something inappropriately, her arrogant attitude always comes out automatically. Sighing heavily, I go to clean the floor as I feel her gaze lingers on me in my every move.
"You don't have to do it. I will call the cleaner now." She exclaims, but I don't have any urge to talk to her right now.
"Don't you listen to me?!" She asks. "This is my office. I don't want to bother anybody else. Besides, I can do it." I assure her as I continue to do it.
I hear her steps walking near me as I look at her with confusion. She grabs my wrist and pulls me closer, "Ms. Kim, listen to me carefully. I don't want you to get anything from anyone besides me. Again."
I snatch my wrist back, "You are my boss, not my parents. I can get whatever from whoever if I want to." "Why? Is this cheap coffee makes you feel that you are special now? If you want, I can buy you the whole coffee shop." She shouts angrily.
I am shocked by her action. Believe me, I don't know what does it matter to just get a cup of coffee from someone you work with. "Ms. Manoban, It's not about the price. I know it's not expensive for you, but it does for me. I know your money can buy everything, though." I say. "I love kindness, not money," I add and walk away.
"You act like this coffee shit means so much for you. Is this coffee making you feel something for him now?"
I stop at the exact spot, not moving because I still don't believe what I have heard. "One last question to you, Lisa. What is going with you, today? This morning, we were good, and now, I don't know I have imagined it or not." I say in disbelief.
"What's mine is mine! I don't fucking share." She yells. "Stop talking nonsense, I've never been yours," I say, curving my brow up. She said I am hers, but she has never asked me to be her girlfriend once. Since what happened in Hawaii, she has never talked about it again. I wonder if she forgets or something. She is so unpredictable.
