JENNIE
"I am serious, Yeri. Jennie is my girlfriend, and I love her so much." As Lisa utters this phrase, all of my anger and jealousy towards her has been dissolved in the air.
I look at her, stunned, not knowing what to do or say anymore. She squeezes my hand lightly as she gives a firm look to Yeri—that girl!
"I don't believe you, Lisa. Please, tell me that's a joke." Yeri asks Lisa in a desperate tone. Her face goes pale, her eyes look like she wants to cry, but have no tears, and her hands are shaking.
"What's wrong, Yeri? I thought you would be happy for me. We are friends, right?" Lisa says, smiling innocently. I know she tries not to make that girl cry in front of us. Because if that happens, it would be so awkward.
"Y-yeah, I am happy for you." She stammers nervously. She closes her eyes slightly before giving us a bitter smile. I think she gave it only to Lisa. Not me, though.
"Remember one thing I have told you, Lisa?" She asks, changing her expression from the sad one to the bitch one immediately.
Lisa shakes her head slightly, giving her the answer that she doesn't have any clue about it. I don't know why this girl still has the tendency to stand here after being told that Lisa has a girlfriend—and she's here in front of her fucking face. I am here. I am not any kind of ghost that she can't see, right?
"Well, I need to remind you then. When we were in college, I told you one thing that nothing in this world Yeri couldn't have. Don't you remember, friend?" She says, stepping towards Lisa, brushing her fingers on Lisa's arm slightly, which Lisa jumps away immediately.
"Whatever in the college, I-I..." Lisa clenches my hand more before continuing, "I've already forgotten." She says as I see a slight pain in that girl's eyes, but she shrugs it away instantly.
She doesn't reply and turns her gaze to me. "You. You are so lucky to have her committed. I have heard she's never dated before you. So, what's your name, again?" She asks, trying to tell me about Lisa's past that I've already known.
"Jennie Kim," I say, shooting her my bitch glare. I will play if she wants to. I don't give up easily, and that's my personality that I love the most.
"What a coincidence! I am Yeri. Yeri Kim. Kim industry. Have you ever heard about it?" She smirks.
"No, and also I don't want to know it, either," I say as Lisa watches both of us having an intense conversation.
"May I know what company your family owns? I might have heard about it before, unlike you." She fires back. Of course, she knows that I don't have any company because if I had, I wouldn't work here, right? She just wants to insult me in front of Lisa. That's her point.
I have to admit that I am taken aback at her question. I've always been a strong person, but when it comes to my family or parents, pain occurs in my chest immediately. Maybe, I don't like the idea of people talking about my parents, though.
"Yeri, you don't have the right to ask my girlfriend this question," Lisa answers instead of me when she doesn't get my reply.
"What's wrong, Lisa? It's just a family job. I just want to-"
"ENOUGH! If you don't have anything else, please go out. I have a meeting in a few minutes." Lisa says, almost shouting at her. I know she lied to her. The meeting is in an hour or two. She just doesn't want anyone to talk about it because I've already told her everything about how my parents abandoned me and how I survived by myself since then. I was crying at that time when I told her, so she promised me that she wouldn't bring it up again.
