Recovery

I wake up in a cold sweat and instantly sit up only to feel hot pain pierce my body as my bullet wound starts to sting. I look around seeing i'm still in the store but i'm wrapped in a sleeping bag in a open tent.

"Looks like your finally awake" One looks at me and I can only see a faint outline of him from how dark it is in and outside the store.

"How long have I been out for?" I look at him trying to hold back the tears from the pain I was feeling.

"You have been asleep for three days" One says pulling out a knife and cutting open a can of beans and putting them on a small grill.

"Three days!" I slowly get up looking at him in anger.

"What about Rainy!?"

"She will be with that guy you need to heal before we go" One says pointing at my wounds.

"I'm fine" I stand up and instantly feel lightheaded as I stumble towards the store entrance.

"Wow take it easy are you sure your ready?" One stops in front of me looking concerned.

"Yeah lets go" I look at the floor seeing the dead infected from earlier and I search his pockets finding keys for a car.

I throw the keys at One and he catches them and looks confused.

"I need you to drive because if I pass out while were driving we would crash" I open the door and grab the backpack that I had stuffed with supplies and I head towards the only car in the lot which looks to be a very beat up one.

One walks over to the car and unlocks it getting in the drivers seat and starting it. I hop in the passengers seat ready to find Rainy before I stop myself.

"One what direction did he go when he took off with her" I look at One with a blank face

"They went left towards the country side I think they were going out of the town" One looks at me with a slightly confused look. "Why is something wrong?"

"No I think I know where he went...Last year there was this party with a bunch of people from our high school and well we didn't want cops coming so Maverick told everyone to go to this old barn he had found and now I'm thinking he might be there" I look at One with a serious face and nod 

"Let's do this" we both smiled as we said the same thing

-Time Skip 1 hour-

We arrive at a dirt road and in the distant field we see a barn with 5 cars in front of it. I see Maverick and a bunch of his friends and I start running towards the barn One chasing after me.

"Stop we can't just run in there!" One shouts at me and grabs my shoulder yanking me back

"One I'm going to get her bac-" I hear a gunshot and I turn my head towards the sound see the barn.

"Shit..." One starts running and I follow him and soon we arrive at the barn and we crouch in the weeds.

"Throw him with the girl" Maverick points to a guy bleeding on the ground and two guys drag him away.

"Now" I run out of the weeds lunging towards Maverick but before I connect a punch I feel a hefty force knock me to the side and I land hard.

"Looks like the rat came back for another round" Maverick laughs and I see who knocked me over and its another one of his goons.

"Yeah but he brought a friend for help" One aims a Rifle at Maverick and he smirks 

I slowly stand up and pull out my pistol before backing up slowly towards the barn

"Your gonna let me take Rainy and were going to leave" I say still aiming at him.

"Your outnumbered just look behind you" Maverick smirks and I turn around seeing at least ten people aiming weapons at me.

I turn back and a fist connects with my lower jaw knocking me to the ground.

"No!" One runs at maverick but gets hit with a Rifle butt knocking him out cold.

"Were going to make you wish you were dead" Maverick whispers in me ear before knocking me out with a swift punch to the head.
