"Jax wake up we were called to the meeting hall" Rainy shakes me and I look at her with a tired expression. Then I crawl out of bed and notice i'm in my underwear and I remember what happened last night and I smile a bit.
I then hurry up and put my cloths on and I follow Rainy out the front door. I look around at the small town we had come across and feel safe seeing the towering walls and the many houses containing sleeping people along with the feeling of being normal again.
We soon arrive at the town hall and I notice only 8 people were there and I become puzzled. I sit down next to One and Rainy sits next to me at the big meeting table.
"I called you here for a Supply Run that I need you to do" William nods to us. He is the owner of the gated town and he had let us stay after being checked for signs of infection. We had only come here two nights ago and we had already been on one short supply run but this sounds like a longer one.
"You five will go to the town and see what you can get and if the place is crawling with the infected don't bother with it" William looks at us all and waves goodbye before dismissing us and leaving the town hall.
I look at the people coming with us and start to feel confident. The team consist of Rainy, One, Aiello, Mark, and Me.
----2 hours later----
I swing taking off an infected's head with my hatchet as we walk into the giant store. I quickly look around for anymore and don't see any in sight.
"Ok it looks clear but watch your back in here something don't feel right to me" I nod looking at them all with serious eyes before nodding and moving away from the group towards the far side of the store.
I look around for supplies that could be useful and I stop smelling something nasty almost like if you had left spoiled meat in your fridge. Just then an Infected steps around the corner and My eyes go wide as I fall to the ground and it falls on top of me trying to bite my neck. I reach for my hatchet but it is to far from my reach and I panic looking for anything of use. Then I see a garden hoe on a shelf near me and I reach for it and as soon as I slip my fingers around the handle the pressure of the undead corpse gets pulled from me and I look up seeing Aiello smashing its head against the wall.
"Jesus he get the jump on you or what?" Aiello extends his hand towards me and I take it getting off the ground.
"No I wasn't paying attention and the bastard jumped me" I laugh a bit before looking at my leg seeing a tear where my bite was from the lab and I instantly pull my eyes from it but I look up seeing Aiello pointing a gun at me.
"Your bit" Aiello looks at me with a scared expression and the gun in his hand shakes a bit
"Look I haven't turned have I and I don't feel sick and besides this bite was a couple of days ago" I look at him with pleading eyes trying to make him see reason
"But...you haven't turned yet...that makes no sense everyone who I see get bit turns in less than a couple hours or if there lucky a day" Aiello looks horrified and lowers the gun a bit just so its not pointing at me.
"Look please don't tell anyone if I think i'm going to turn i'll tell everyone but please don't ruin this chance I have..." I look at him with wide eyes.
"Fine" Aiello nods before walking away back to what he was doing before he helped me.
I then look around a bit more finding what I was searching for. The gun case.
I see that the glass is broken and most of the knives and handguns where gone but most things where still there so I start putting what is left in my bag and before long all that is left is three guns.
I look at them and pick the one in the middle, A sniper rifle.
I put the sniper on my back and then keep moving down the aisle grabbing only things of importance before long I notice i'm in the hygiene section and I look around before grabbing some essentials and then I walk down the line finding Rainy in the Women's section and I see her pick up a pack of tampons and notice that she then looks at me.
"Oh sorry about that..." I laugh nervously
"What is wrong?" She seems confused
"Oh nothing...Here I got you this" I walk up to her and hand her a perfume bottle that I knew she used to have before the apocalypse started.
"Thanks!" She hugs me and plants a kiss on my lips
"Yeah I knew you might like it" I then kiss her back and nod before heading back to the men's stuff and grab a pack of condoms.
Soon we all are standing with our bags full at the entrance all of us looking rather happy.
"Ok let's get out of here" Mark says and we all follow him out of the building heading towards the cars.
We arrive at the car and all of us pile in next to each other. I sit between Rainy and Aiello as I start to doze off a bit we hit a bump in the road and I wake up. Sighing knowing I won't fall asleep I get ready for the long two hour ride.
----2 hours later----
I wake up noticing I had fallen asleep and then notice everyone but Aiello who is driving is asleep. I look at Rainy who has her head against my shoulder and I smile.
"How long till were there?" I whisper to Aiello so no one wakes up yet
"Not long five minutes at most" Aiello whispers back while watching the road.
I lay my head back again and smile as I look out the window feeling alive again as I had before the apocalypse.
----Back at the store----
A figure bends down and touches the broken glass looking in the dark store before he turns around and slices an infected's head in half.
"Where are you" the whispers fade into the night as many voices repeat the phrase over and over before it becomes only a faint sound.
