The Soldier and the Sourcer [LOKI & BUCKY]

context : you staying in Asgard for a while with Thor as you and him are extremely close friends, he thinks of you as a sister. During that time however, yourself and Loki had a bit of a fling but it soon ended once you'd returned to Earth. Now a year later you and Bucky have been dating for around a month when Thor decides to bring Loki down for one of Tony's parties to try and prove that he was innocent and has changed.

I held my hands over my head as i laid down flat on my bed in a sulk. "i'm not going!" i say. I heard a low chuckle coming from in front of me and i shook my head. "you have to go" Bucky said and i shook my head. I felt arms around my waist pulling my up off the bed. "no! don't think you're winning this argument with hugs and love and affection" i said as he pulled my hand from my eyes and i met his. Damn those eyes, those heart melting blue eyes. "but i normally do" he said as he wrapped my legs around his waist and held me up. "well...yeah i suppose you do" i say softly placing my hand on his cheek. He softly pecks me on the lips before deepening it as i run my fingers through his hair at the back of his neck. "don't get me wrong i love you regardless...but i am so happy you got your hair cut" I said to him with a smile and he chuckled. "you just wanted to know what a lady killer i was in the 40's" he said and i laughed. "the 40's is over rated, you're still a lady killer now" i said chuckling and he kissed me again, laying me back down on the bed. He began leaving trails of kisses down my jaw, down my neck, nipping it occasionally when there was a harsh knock on the door. "you know the party starts in 15 right" I heard Steve's booming voice. I rolled my eyes in annoyance "go away Stephen" I replied and i heard his low chuckle. "do as the lady said" Bucky replied and we heard a laugh before his footsteps disappeared down the hallway. "how have i only just realised you're only wearing a towel" i commenting and he laughed. "sorry to disappoint but i won't be wearing this to the party" He replied and i laughed. "oh i am not complaining, give me Bucky Barnes in a suit any day" i said with a smirk and he chuckled, blushing ever so slightly. I got up off the bed and walked over to the wardrobe and grabbed my dress which was hanging up. "i guess you're going to ban me from going in my pyjamas too" i said and he laughed as he placed a quick peck on my forehead and i went into our en suit to get ready.

>>15 MINUTES LATER<<

I took a deep breath before i opened the bathroom door. I always got really nervous when Tony held these types of parties, i felt like there was this huge pressure placed upon me even though i knew that wasn't the case. I walked out of the door and saw Bucky making the final adjustments to his suit. "well don't you look dashing Mr Barnes" i said with a chuckle as he turned around. "why thank you Miss Y/L/N, might i say you look absolutely ravishing" He said holding out his hand. I smiled at him before taking a hold of his hand and instantly my nerves were calmed somewhat. We walked over to the door and Buck opened it for me. I smiled at him before walking through and waiting until he'd closed it behind him. "you know, some people find the whole ladies first thing offensive" i said and Bucky shakes his head. "you really can't win with some women . . . but i won with you" he said and i chuckled softly as i pecked him on the cheek and we arrived at the main room, where everybody was.

>>25 MINUTES INTO THE PARTY<<

I was laughing at something that Sam had said in response to Steve when all the glasses around started to shake, including the glass of wine in my hand. I looked at Steve, Sam and Bucky in confusion as Buck's grip on my waist tightened and i sank into him more. Suddenly there was an immensely bright light that light up the entire garden grounds and the forests behind. Everybody ran to the window but a smile grew on my face as i knew exactly who that was. I looked at Steve who smiled at me. He nodded to me and i scuttled off as Bucky looked at Steve in confusion before all of us Avengers followed. I ran out to the grass and saw Thor looking around disoriented. "hello stranger!" i shouted to him and he spotted me. He smiled at me brightly as he ran up to me and hugged me tightly, lifting me in the air. I laughed as he placed me back on the ground and i smiled at him softly. "it's so good to see you" i said happily and he chuckled. "well i tried tracking your watch but for some reason the signal was scrambled so it took us a while to get here" Thor said and i chuckled nervously. "yeah...it got damaged" i said sheepishly and Thor nodded. "i'll take a look at it later" he said and i nodded. Soon enough Tony, Steve, Bruce, Nat and Clint has all greeted Thor, welcoming him back. "i . . . erm wanted to go through something with yo-" he started but was promptly interrupted by another beam of bright light and somebody else come crashing down to Earth. "it's not Hemdial is it?" i questioned jokingly and Thor nervously laughed. "what's wrong?" i asked as the figure walked out of the clouds. "surprise" Loki said in that sarcastic, arrogant voice he always had about him. My face dropped, as did my stomach. "listen before you all try to kill him!" Thor boomed panicky going to step next to his brother. "he's come to make peace" He finished. Loki looked around the group of people before he set his eyes on me. He shot me a smooth smirk but i looked down at the ground, not wanting to meet his gaze. "i think it's too late buddy" Tony said annoyed. "if i remember correctly there wasn't a plus one attached to that invitation" Natasha said spitefully before glancing at me. She was the only person i'd told about mine and Loki's mild summer fling, but truth be told i thought i'd never see him again. A hand placed itself in mine and i turned around to see Bucky coming to stand in between myself and Steve. "just hear him out" Thor said, pleading with everyone in the group. He then turned to me. "come on Y/N, you-" not knowing what he was going to say next, i spluttered with my words before saying "maybe we should hear him out". Thor smiled at me happily, but he soon looked worried as he saw my glum facial expression. Loki stepped forward and began to explain about how Thanos was the reason why he attacked New York and how his whole life he's always lived in the shadow of his father and brother ect. His words really got to me considering he used to tell me stories of his childhood and i knew how alone he used to feel. When he was explaining everything, my eyes started to water and a slight tear slipped down my cheek. Thor looked at me with hope, but also sadness. He thought at one point i was the key to his brothers redemption. But he had no idea who bucky was and how we were together now, but he could quite easily guess. "come on. . . Y/N you know me, tell them" Loki pleaded and i shook my head. Everyone turned to me curiously apart from Nat who just looked at me with sadness in her eyes. "i think you should back off" Steve said finally and i shook my head. "oh how i've missed you, America's golden boy, Mr righteous, God bless America-" Loki said before i snapped. "that's enough!" i shouted rather loudly which took everybody by surprise as i wasn't usually one to get angry. "you . . . you brought him here knowing what would happen" i said pointing to Thor. "and you . . . you came here knowing exactly the same" i said looking at Loki who only had that smug look on his face which made me angrier and angrier. "you never came back" he shrugged and i marched over to him. "i didn't want too" i said sharply. "what's with the hostility?" Loki questioned. He had taken a step forward and was now towering me being the rather tall god he was. "oh i see . . . you feel threatened" he said chuckling. "don't worry, i won't spill our secrets if you put in a good word for me" he said softly as he leant down to my ear to whisper it. Bucky went to walk forward when Steve stoped him by placing a hand on his chest. He looked up at Steve confused and hurt. Steve just shook his head. I scoffed, taking a step backwards before punching him straight in the jaw. His head snapped backwards and glared down at me before i smirked back up at him "try and threaten me again i dare you" i said snarling at him. We held eye contact for a moment before he back down. "Let him stay" i announced as i walked away from him and away from the others, back towards the building. I looked down at my hand to see the cut on my knuckles healing back over as if nothing had happened. I walked straight through the party where everyone was dancing and oblivious to what was going on outside. I walked behind the bar, pouring myself a large glass of wine. "Y/N" i looked up and saw Nat standing there. "i mean that was badass but . . . you let him stay? isn't that-" She said and i chuckled "awkward, weird, confusing, all of the above?" i said and we both chuckled. "i'm glad you stood up to him" Nat said placing her hand on my shoulder and i smiled softly. "it took me by such a surprise there was just so much anger there that i didn't know i had" i said sadly and she nodded. "can i have a word?" we looked up and saw Thor standing there looking all sheepish. "go ahead" i said and he sighed. "i thought people would've known" Thor said and i shook my head. "i only told Nat" i said and he looked at me guilty. "did you two not end on good terms" Thor asked and i sighed. "not really . . . he did the usual, try and push away anybody willing to love him" I said sadly. "he still loves you" Thor said and i shook my head. I went to open my mouth when Bucky came up behind me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Bucky, this is Thor my best friend and Thor . . . this is Bucky . . . my amazing boyfriend" i said, smiling up at Bucky and kissing him on the cheek. He chuckled softly before holding his hand out and Thor took it hesitantly. "Y/N is like my little sister so do forgive me for being a little cautious or hostile" he said trying to smile at Bucky as i chuckled softly. "i'm sure you two will be fine once you get to know each other" i said happily. "please - excuse us" Bucky said as he took my hand and led me off the bar stool. i smiled at Thor before grabbing my wine and following where ever he was leading me. Turns out it was the middle of the dance floor. "i thought you didn't dance!" i shouted at him over the music. "i'm full of surprises" he said lowly in my ear and my cheeks turned red. I only had a small amount of my drink left so i knocked it back before placing it somewhere and dancing with Bucky. Soon enough a slow dance came on, as i melted into Bucky's touch, i saw all of our friends around us. Tony and Pepper, Nat and Bruce, hell even Steve was dancing with someone. I smiled as i saw all our friends having a good time and i turned my attention back up to Bucky. "so do you want to tell me what's the deal between you and that Loki guy?" Bucky asked and i stammered, unsure what to say. "he's got a thing for you" Bucky said and i shook my head. "no he doesn't-" i started but Bucky interrupted me. "anyone can see it, i'm not blind. i know what it's like to be in love with you. It's consuming and the best thing that's ever happened to me, but also absolutely terrifying. Whatever you two had is in the past, and as long as it stays there i don't care" he said, looking down at me. Tears began to roll down my cheek as my eyes began to fill up. "what did i ever do to deserve you?" i asked as i had my hands behind his neck and i leant up to kiss him. He leant back to wipe the tears off my cheeks with his thumbs before pecking me again softly. "i love you James" i said softly and he chuckled. "and i love you too Y/N" he said softly as we both just dancing, enjoying each others company and the rare moments peace we got to ourselves.

>>LOKI's POV<<

"i am sorry brother, i shouldn't have brought you" Thor said, standing beside me. "it's alright, i wanted to see her again" I replied quietly. "yes but i should've come down first to check the situation" Thor said and i shook my head. "i knew the risks and consequences" i replied with a monotone voice. "she was meant to be your redemption" Thor muttered quietly. "she was my redemption...and then i lost her" I muttered sadly. We both stood in silence watching Y/N and that guy dance together, exchanging i love you's and looking into each others eyes. I felt something that i'd only felt once in my life, heartbreak. The only other time i'd felt something like this was when our mother died. I shook my head lightly and walked away, not standing to watch them love each other anymore.
