[longest chapter of my life lads enjoy]

"oh my god i'm so full!" Peter exclaimed as we walked down the streets of New York. My best friend and i laughed at his antics as he held his stomach in pain as i sipped on my drink. We'd just stopped off at a fast food restaurant after our study session at Peters house. My best friend Sasha was dating him and i was more than happy for the pair of them. They walked down the street happily, her arm locked with his as he smiled down at her longingly. It made me smile to see my friends so happy, but i couldn't help but feel that pit of loneliness creep in. "hey, i'm going to go home, it's pretty late and i think i'm done studying" i said and they looked at me confused. "are you sure?" Sasha asked me and i nodded. "yeah, i'm super tired, i haven't exactly been sleeping very well recently" i said sighing, but smiling at them both softly. "i left my bag at yours" Sasha said looking up at Peter who smiled. "that's fine, you guys go back and i'll make my way back to the tower. It's only a 10 minute walk" i said and Sasha looked at me guiltily. "i have headphones and i'm practically an avenger, i can look after myself" i said laughing as Sasha hugged me tightly. "well still, be careful and text me when you're home" she said and i nodded. "enjoy yourself" i said and shot her a wink and we both laughed. "see you later y/n!" Peter said happily smiling at me and i returned one. I turned around and walked in the opposite direction to them. I plugged my headphones in and began the longer than 10 minute walk back to the tower.

Once i'd arrived, i'd made my way straight to my room, throwing my bag down on my floor and grabbing a baggy hoodie and wrapping myself up in it. The compound was freezing due to nobody being here. Everybody was away either doing a mission or on business meetings. I sighed as i grabbed my phone and headed out of my room towards the common room. "F.R.I.D.A.Y can you turn the heating on please" i said as i walked into the kitchen to make myself a hot drink to try and help warm myself up. "sure thing miss L/N" she replied and i chuckled.

I grabbed my now steaming mug as i made my way over to the window seat. I'd missed the views the tower had offered, overlooking the city at night was an absolute beautiful sight. The compound was currently under going renovations after Tony 'accidentally' made Bruce get a bit too worked up and angry. I didn't mind, i was even planning on asking Tony if i could stay at the Tower for a while. It was more peaceful. I placed my mug down, getting my phone out my pocket and snapped a few photos. "FRIDAY, play my Spotify playlist" i said and soon music started playing throughout the room. I smiled to myself as i looked down onto the city. People were dashing around back and fourth, i could see a mass amount of umbrellas being opened as i realise it had just started raining. Thank god i missed that shower. The rain started getting heavier and heavier. I've always found it extremely peaceful so i continued to sit there, scrolling through instagram on my phone. Soon the rain turned into hail and i looked out the window just in time to see a strike of lightning not too far from here. My eyes lit up exciting as thunder clapped overhead. Initially i loved thunderstorms. As a kid they always fascinated me, but as i grew up, i couldn't stand them when i was by myself. I suddenly realised how alone i was in this tower.

I sighed, moving to the sofa and turning the tv on. I started watching netflix when another loud bang shook the building. I cranked the volume up as i slouched down further into the sofa. "FRIDAY, how serious is this storm?" i asked and she didn't respond. "FRIDAY?" i repeated a bit worried. "i'm detecting power outages across the city" she said, her voice was crackling. "no no no do not leave me" i cried out, placing my face in my hands as fear started to creep in. The lights started to flicker on and off and i shook my head. "i've called for back up, i can sense you're frightened to be left alone" FRIDAY crackled out before the lights went off. I walked over to the window and saw all the lights across the city go off. It was pitch black in the city that never sleeps.
