"Run from here, Mallory!"
"No, No, I can't leave you people here, please!"
"Go Mallory, you have to do this! Responsibility is the first priority for a Princess! And to save us, take this and you have to go for now!"
They handed me a scroll and closed our secret escape gate.
"No, please..." I sobbed.
Our Kingdom had been attacked by humans. They killed almost everyone after a war of five days. I escaped breathing my lungs out. Ran as if I don't have time left to live. Ran as fast as I could. Finally reached somewhere far, I climbed a tree top and sat their. I watched the green lands burn into ashes. I waited in the far woods for my parents. God knows how many days I spent waiting. But they never came. I was just a 9 years old serpent... Uh.. I mean, a shape-shifting serpent.
Before the beginning of the rein of King Daniel and Queen Freya, humans and serpents had good relations. We were considered evil beings, but not for humans. Our Kingdom was called the Central Darkness Of Earth, because of the powerful influence of the planetary motions over there and all the Black Magic and other forms of it was born here, probably it was the darkest part of Earth. My Great Great Great Grandfather (or may be his Great Great Great Grandfather, who knows?!) were those who started it. They sacrificed a human to Great Temple of Hiraan, our Serpent God, and mixed one drop of human blood with milk, boiled it with Silver Grass and drank it when the Mars was into Taurus at the mid day, when the sun was at it's peak and it was the year of Snake according to Chinese astrology. That was where the gene mutations occured and today we are extraordinarily powerful. Even if our kingdom was considered dark, we had a long cave, full of precious gems, beautiful as moon and bright as sun. My father, King Morris, was the King of The Great Kingdom of Survania. And according to the Constitution of the Kingdom, those gems were to be protected and not to be given to anyone at any cost. Whenever a shape-shifting serpent is born, a gem grows on the wall of the cave. Those gems possess our powers.
King Daniel, the King of our neighboring Kingdom, The Kingdom of Aulungston, attacked our community with thousands of armed men without any notice of war, at the time of peace. And we couldn't save ourselves. It was a myth that the cave would disappear with the last breath of the last serpent. They didn't know it. So they killed every single serpent. I was scared. I rested on a tall tree for days. I watched them take away all the gems, trucks loaded, going away, out of my sight... Then I saw a man running towards the woods from the borders of Survania, I had some hope that he must be a soldier sent by father, May be I was right at this point. But then, I saw his face crushing against the ground with a sharp cry, "For Survania!", I had seen an arrow penetrating his back and coming out of his chest and he was all dead. My last hope died. I was helpless, I cried. I was hungry too. I didn't know what just exactly happened. I was a little girl and I just waited for my parents to come. But I was waiting forever. Now that I had to go for my own, I went into the woods, in search of food... I was thirsty for milk. I hadn't tasted a drop of milk for days. I had no other choice but to take my human form and depend on fruits. There were some shrubs of wild berries. I survived on those berries for some days. But I was also afraid of predators. I was just a kid. And I was so terrified of the war, and losing my family, my home, my everything. This trauma wasn't easy for me. From soft silk beds, I had come to thorns. I lost shelter, I was a Princess and now I was left to struggle in the woods. How was the first chapter? Let me know in the comments below!
