Adam's POV
The best and worst things happen at night.

For instance, nighttime can bring some of the most beautiful things, like stars and the moon.

But it can also bring out the weirdness in people.

Take me as an example.

After 10:30 I start to get a little strange. My common sense flies out the window, and I can't seem to stop myself from doing stupid things.

Such as trying to make food at midnight cause my tummy got the rumblies.

This night was one of these such occasions, and I had decided to make stir fry.

Unfortunately because I am a horrendous cook, it didn't go quite as planned.

First off, I needed some vegetables, but broccoli was the only one I could find in the fridge, so I stuck with that.

I plopped em right in the frying pan, moving them around, so they didn't burn.

That didn't really work.

But I wasn't going to be downtrodden by this small defeat! No, I still wanted my stir fry, and by golly that was what I was going to get!

Deciding that ramen was also needed to make this, I got some of that, put it in a bowl with water just covering the top of the ramen, and plopped it in the microwave for 2 minutes. That's what you do with ramen, right?

Long story short, I burned the broccoli and the ramen, set off the fire alarm, and managed to wake up James in the process.

Just as I had frantically opened all the windows in the kitchen, and taken the stir fry off the stove, I heard a voice behind me say,

"What the heck is going on here?"

A sheepish look on my face, I turned to look at James through the smoke, ready for him to be upset at the mess I made.

Then he started laughing.

And when I say laughing I don't mean his cute little giggles. No.

I mean full on fill-the-room laughter.

The shock wore off eventually, and I started laughing too.

We both ended up on the floor, clutching our stomachs from laughing so hard, and James started gasping for air before grabbing my face and kissing me lightly.

"I love you so much you idiot," He said, still breathing deeply. "But please don't almost burn down the kitchen again."

"I can't promise anything." I reply, a grin still plastered on my face.

He smiles back at me before saying,

"Well, you went through all this trouble. We might as well try this... what is it exactly?"

"Stir fry"

"Sure it is"

Grabbing forks, we both dig into the slightly blackened stir fry, and hesitantly take a bite.

"You know what it isn't half bad." I say reaching to get another bite. "I've made worse."

"Yes you have." James replies, getting a swift slap on the arm from me.

"Let's go to bed now. I'm tired."

James agrees, and we both head to our bedroom to try and get at least a little bit of sleep with the house still having a smoky smell.

Based on a true story, I'm afraid. Other than the whole other person part. I'm lonely. (534 words)
