Hope y'all are doing well and safe this week. Here's some fluff to keep our hopes up.
James' pov
Adam and I had been spending all day lounging around his apartment watching practically everything on Netflix.
We started off watching new series I hadn't seen before, and eventually made our way to horror movies.
I was perfectly fine, of course, with it being the middle of the day and bright outside, but Adam seemed to be more spooked with each one.
He was latching onto me like a leech, jumping with every loud sound coming from the screen.
At one point, I tried to leave and refill the popcorn bowl, but Adam's grip on me tightened when I tried to stand up.
"Adam, I need to go make some more popcorn." I tried, gently pulling my arm away from his grip, but he just stood up and announced that he would come with me.
We shuffled our way to the kitchen, Adam looking everywhere for any signs of the terrors we had seen on the screen.
It was kind of amusing to see him so freaked out, not to mention that he hadn't ever been this close to me for so long before.
I moved his grip to my hand, reassuring myself that it was just to be able to make the popcorn easier.
Adam didn't let go of my hand, even when we went back to the couch to sit down and finish the movie.
The sun had just begun to set outside, sending Adam into even more of a panicked state, and I decided it was time to end the movie for the night when I saw his hands were practically shaking.
"Ok, so horror movies obviously weren't a good choice, and I'm getting a bit antsy just sitting around here, so where would you like to go tonight? I'll drive."
Adam gazed at me gratefully, seeming to skim his brain for things we could do in the city tonight.
"We could go to the zoo?"
"Adam the zoo's closed."
"We could go break into the zoo?"
I smiled at him, pretending to be exasperated and replied,
"Ok let's move on from the zoo. What if we just took a walk around the park, then decide something else to do?"
Adam looked at me as if I had just grown a second head.
"Ok 1: it's way too cold at night to go on a walk, and 2. I don't want to be murdered tonight, thank you very much."
"We definitely shouldn't have watched those movies." I sighed.
"What if we just went out to dinner and decided something?" Adam inquired.
I thought about it for a second, before shrugging and answering with a "Sure", and grabbed my keys before we headed out the door.
The car ride was comfortably quiet, with Adam still clutching onto my hand with every shadow he saw out the car window.
Once we arrived at Olive Garden, and were seated at a table away from any windows that Adam might nervously look out the whole time, a simple conversation started up.
Of course, a simple conversation for us isn't a simple conversation for everyone else.
"I would totally survive the zombie apocalypse, by pure wit and finesse." I stated, posing elegantly.
"Are you saying you would seduce a zombie?"
"...maybe."
Our conversation came to a stopping point as the waitress came up to take our orders.
