Adam's pov

James loves Christmas. He talks about it almost every single day after Halloween.

Christmas music always plays in the background of everyday. Whether it's on the radio, played on Alexa, or just playing in James' headphones, it's always there.

I like Christmas too. But not nearly as much as James.

Sure, I love gathering together with family, and eating great food, and feeling the "joy of the holidays", but it's kinda overrated to me.

But, James loves it, so I love it too.

And, of course, there's the decorations.

James always goes all out every year. We have to get the perfect Christmas tree, and the ornaments have to be so shiny they could blind anyone who looks at them too long.

The stockings can't have any excess strings, and have to be exactly 3 inches apart, or they won't be good enough.

The lights on our house have to be perfectly straight, and none of them can be dull or out at all.

It's grueling work.

I don't know how James does it every year.

My job this year is to decorate the tree.

I try my best, following the pattern James told me to do, but I just can't seem to get it right.

I've tried every way I can, trying to make it as perfect as James does. But I can't.

So instead I focus on the Star.

It's a gorgeous clear star, with gold swirls dancing all over it. When it's lit up, it casts lovely patterns all over the wall.

It's my personal favorite decoration, and by the way James looks at it, it's his favorite too.

So, I grab the star from the box, go over to the tree, and stand on my tip toes to try and reach the top of the tree.

Stupid short legs. I think, still desperately trying to reach the top of the tree.

All of a sudden, I feel an arm wrap around me, and someone take the star from my hands.

Looking to my right, I see James easily reach up and place the star, perfectly straight and beautiful.

He then turns to me and kisses me softly.

"The lights are done, so now it's hot chocolate time." He says, stepping away from me to head into the kitchen.

I follow him, and wrap my arms around him while he stirs the hot cocoa mix and milk.

Leaning my head against his back, I close my eyes and focus on how wonderful that moment was.

James radiated heat, and I felt myself snuggle closer to him, nearly falling asleep with how comfortable I was.

Soon enough, the hot chocolate was complete, so we headed over to the couch to turn on Elf.

We sipped at our hot cocoa, and I relished at how good it tasted.

Being amazing at everything Christmas also meant that James was great at making hot cocoa.

James finished his drink first, and laid his head on my lap, while I moved my fingers through his hair.

He let out a content sigh, and I felt him lean into the touch, closing his eyes in satisfaction.

We continued to watch the movie, and then changed it to A Christmas Story when it was finished.

James fell asleep halfway through the movie, so I turned it off and picked him up bridal style.

He stirred slightly as I brought him to our room, but fell back asleep quickly when I put him in the bed.

I changed and got in the other side of the bed, wrapping my arms around James, and pulled him closer to me.

I thought he was fully asleep when I kissed him goodnight, but was surprised when he kissed back and opened his eyes.

"I love you." He said, kissing me lightly again, still half asleep.

"I love you too" I replied.

Just as he was drifting off again he said,

"Also, the tree looks atrocious."

I smiled and kissed his hair.

"I know."

Also I'm probably going to do another one tomorrow, since this one was pretty short. Leave a request if you want a specific prompt done (preferably not angst)

Happy holidays kids!
