Broken glass crunches under my feet and the smell of alcohol fills my nose instantly. Oh no. "Dad?" I call out. Tables were turned over, our couch was shredded apart, and every glass item we owned was shattered. "Dad?" I call out once again.

"It's your fault." A dark voice growls. I whip around to see my father in the corner of the living room. His eyes were a dangerously dark shade of blue now. "Why did you have to wander off into the park all by yourself? Why did you have to go into the woods?" He was asking me why it wasn't me instead of his mate. He went through these little breakdowns around five times a year. They lasted maybe a day or two due to my dad's terrible hold on alcohol. A few beers and he was drunk off his ass.

"Dad, I-"

"Shut the fuck up," he snarls, throwing a glass bottle at me. I hear it shatter when it hits the wall two inches away from my head. I don't even blink. I take a step forward.

"Dad-"

"I said shut the fuck up." He growls and I stop in my tracks. "Leave," he demands and his alpha voice comes out

I nod and put up my hand. "Okay. See you later." I say and grab my keys to the door before running outside.

I had no fucking idea where I was going. It was well beyond dark out now and I could barely see three feet in front of my due to the fact that it was snowing like Santa Claus himself was arriving soon. I was really cold and my hair was just now starting to dry. Son of a bloody bitch was it cold.

I plug in my headphones and crank up the volume. Evanescence's Bring Me To Life starts to play. The song goes along wonderfully with the scene I was currently in. Everyone sensible was inside now other than the carefree children playing in the blizzard like weather.

Finally, the park comes into view. My breath hitches as I see the last place I saw my mother alive and happy.

"Mommy," my six year old self calls. "What's in the woods?" I ask, clueless.

My mother look at me with a warm expression. "Bad wolves. They lost control of their wolf so they eat us instead." She explains and I nod.

"So they'll hurt us?" I ask. My mother nods, her blue eyes twinkling.

"Yes, so don't go into those woods, okay, Journey?" My mother warns and I nod.

" Okay!" I say, running off onto the jungle gym.

" Journey!" My mother calls and I look towards her. "I'll be back in a minute! I have to go see your daddy for a second, okay? Stay put, alright?" She hollers and I nod.

"Okay!" I yell back and watch as my mother dashes off.

As soon as she's out of sight, a small whimper comes from the woods. I whip my head around to inspect the dark trees but to no avail. Nothing was in sight. "Someone's hurt." I whisper to myself and start towards the woods, totally disregarding the promise I made to my mother. "Hello?" I call out when I finally get to the woods.

No answer. "Hello-!"

A deep growl cuts me off. My heart starts to pound loudly. Where was I again? I was in uncharted land. I was dead meat. To prove my fears, a rogue finally emerges from the shadows. I gasp and take a step back. A scream erupts from my mouth and the wolf snaps its jaws at me.

'Journey? Where are you? I'm coming.' My mother mind links me and tears form in my eyes as more rogues reveal themselves.

"Mommy!" I cry out as they close in on me. One's mouth was closing around my side, another one clawing at my arm, and another one trying to naw on leg.

"Journey!" My mother calls after me and I let out another whimper of pain as I feel my blood drip down my arm. "Journey!" She finally finds me and shifts into her wolf form mid jump.

"Mommy!" I yell in pain.

I watch as she effortlessly takes down two rogues, leaving only one clawing at my arm. She starts for him but suddenly get attacked by four other rogues. They all snip at her legs and tail, trying to hit her weak spot. Finally, one of them gets a hold of her throat. I hear a disgusting crack before my mother whimpers in pain and hits the forest floor. She looks at me, whispering comforting phrases my mind as the rogues all go at her. I hear someone come crashing through the trees and look up to see my father standing there in shock. He watches in horror as the last light from my mother's eyes burns out and the rogues relish in her intestines.

"Maple." My father whispers. "Maple," he cries, killing rogues in his human form as he makes his way towards my limp mother. "Maple. Maple. Oh God, please, Maple, stay with me. Stay with me!" He sobs and holds my torn mother I'm his arms. A mighty roar rips from his throat as he lets out a mournful howl.

I shake my head at the horrid memory. The forest was curiously quiet now and I had heard that my father had killed every rogue in this city so the woods were more of a memorial for my mom now. I came here every time my father had a breakdown. It was like a tradition. I sick one but still still a tradition.

What I didn't expect was a voice to make me jump.

"Journey?"
