Chapter 8

After our little moment in the woods, I went home. My father had gone to bed by the time I came back. I cleaned up all of the glass and sewed the furniture back together. I had try to forget how Gabriel's touch felt and how my heart skipped a beat every time I thought about him.

Then the thought of what happened to my locker drifted back into my head. What had Jason meant when he said I was going to pay? When was he coming back to school? Was he coming back? If so, would he dare to talk to me again? The questions never left my mind even after I started to drift asleep.

***********

My alarm abruptly yanks me away from my precious sleep. Taking me away from my beloved fried chicken.

" I wasn't finished yet," I murmur in a sleepy tone and slam my hand down on my alarm clock.

Realizing that I had twenty minutes to get ready, I tiptoe to my closet. I throw on some blue jeans, a black sweater, and some Ugg boots. I sigh at their warmth. I walk over to the bathroom and hit the lights. I run a brush through my hair and throw it up into a sloppy bun. It looked like crap. Oh well. I slather on some chapstick that also worked as lipgloss.

I run down stairs and slip on the second to last step and plant face first on the cold ground. I groan and mutter a swear under my breath. "Jesus flippin' Christ." I moan and lift myself up. "Holy shit, my leg. Son of a bloody bitch-" I stop when my dad shuffles into the living room, a wierd expression on his face. "Oh, hi, Dad." I greet and head into the kitchen. I whip up a bowl of Lucky Charms and inhale it within two minutes. "Bye, Dad." I say and grab my lavender jacket before walking out.

I freeze on my porch. A sleek, back car was parked on our driveway. It hummed brilliantly. I slowly make my way to the car, curious. Before I reach the black beauty, familiar crimson eyes pop up from the driver's side. A grin was plastered on Gabriel's face when he sees me gaping.

"Um, hi?" I ask, shocked that he was at my house.

"Hey," he nods. " Get in." He orders and I cock a brow.

"Why?" I ask defiantly and cross my arms.

Gabriel cocks a brow at me this time and smirks. "Because if you don't I'll throw you in myself." He threatens.

"You. Wouldn't." I say slowly. He shrugs before closing his door and taking a step forward. "Okay!" I yell and throw my hands up before sliding into the car.

Gabriel gives another smirk before sliding himself in the driver's seat next to me. "Was that hard?" He asks sarcastically and I roll my eyes. It wasn't as awkward as before but we didn't really do a lot of mushy stuff. Mostly because of me.

"Yes." I answer. He scoffs before pulling out of my driveway.

The ride to Bane High was quiet and one thought kept nagging at me: Jason. Gabriel seemed to sense my nervousness and looked at me curiously. I avoid eye contact. He was gonna find out about the locker.

I jump when he places a hand on my shoulder. His touch instantly sent a wave of serenity over me and I flick my gaze over to him. "What?" I ask.

"We're here." He repeats and gives me an odd look.

"Oh! Yeah, sorry. I'll get out now." I mentally smack myself. Fuck you awkwardness.

I, not so gracefully, climb out of the sleek beast and straighten out my already straight sweater. Gabriel comes over to me, a serious look in his eyes, and grabs my elbow. "What's going-"

"JOURNEY!" I hear a familiar voice shout and I turn to my right to see July strutting over to me. She stops when she sees Gabriel, who had a rather dangerous look in his eyes.

"Hi, July," I greet, much quieter than her. "Shit," I swear. "I forgot to get your jacket." I explain and she shrugs.

"No worries, my potty mouth friend," She throws an arm around me. "What we must worry about, though, is your books. You kinda left them on the floor." She says, a sympathetic look in her eyes. For a moment, a thought the look was aimed at me but then she says, "Books are people too, Journey." She says solemnly.

I snort and Gabriel looks at me with a look of surprise. I shrug and grin. "I don't know, my equally sailor mouthed friend, all they do is cause torture to my brain." I counter and she sighs dramatically.

"Touché. Touché indeed." She mumbles.

"What are you two talking about?" Gabriel suddenly cuts in. We both pause. I give July a look, pleading her not tell him about my locker. She seems to get it for she gives a confirmation nod.

"I have to go find, Josh." She excuses herself and dashes off down the hallway.

"I have to go, too -" but I barely get a step before Gabriel catches me by the collar. He pulls me back to him.

"Are you hiding something?" He asks and I shake my head vigorously.

"No." I lie.

"Why are you lying to me?" He asks suspiciously.

"I'm not-"

"Hey, rogue."

Jason.

A/N: Hey again everyone. I tried to make this chapter less cliché and awkward. Did it work? Happy Halloween! I may not be able to update tomorrow. Don't be sad. Get glad! Bye~
