Chapter 10

The rest of the day went slowly; without much trouble...until lunch. Gabriel, July, Josh, and I were all sitting at a table. Along with the rest of the pack. Then, suddenly, there's a fake blonde strutting her shit to our table. I quickly look away and try to focus on my food when she sets her eyes on Gabriel then sends a glare my way. "Oh, hi, Gabe," She says, feigning surprise and I roll my eyes.

"It's Gabriel, Vanessa." Gabriel rebuffs.

Vanessa rolls her eyes. "Whatever," She says, popping her gum. "Why the formalities when we've already-"

I hear no more for Gabriel covers my ears. His crimson eyes were ablaze as he stared at me intensely. I hear Vanessa's muffled voice through his hands but can't understand anything of what she is saying. Gabriel kept mouthing the same phrase over and over: I'm sorry. His eyes were pleading me to forgive him and accept his apology.

When Vanessa was done listing the things they have done with each other, Gabriel uncovers my ears and I blink "Vanessa, for the love of all that is holy, shut your damn trap and keep it like that. I don't know what more I should say to get it through your thick fucking skull. I no longer have any feelings towards you nor have I ever. I am disgusted with the things we did and wish them undone. I. Don't. Want. You." He growls lowly and Vanessa smiles wickedly at me.

"And I suppose you want her now?" She asks sharply. "Is she your new toy? Why her? Look at her!" She yells, getting the attention of the whole cafeteria. "Her clothes, her hair, her eyes, everything! Disgusting! Why do you want her, Gabriel? Why? Is it because she's a virgin? Because you like taking away her innocence? Is it because she's shorter and she can get on her knees easier? What is it? What is it, Gabriel? She's a fucking rogue who killed her own damn mom-"

"Shut the fuck up, Vanessa. I've sworn never to hit a girl but this might be an exception. I swear it, if you don't shut up and leave right now, so help me, I will rip you mouth off and shove it up your ass so far that even your little goblin bitches won't be able to hear you." Gabriel says in a low, dangerous tone.

Is that what people think? That I killed my own mother? That I allowed her to die right in front of me?

Tears running down my face, I slowly get up and run out the door. I hear July and Gabriel call after me but I keep running.

You killed her. You killed her.

I make my way up the stairwell.

You killed her. You killed her.

I slam into the rooftop door.

You killed her. You killed her.

I shakily walk over to the ledge.

You killed her. You-

"Shut up." I whisper. "Shut up!" I scream, holding my hands to my ears. "Leave me alone. Please just leave me alone!" I sob and place a hand in the ledge. "Oh God, just leave me alone!" I cry out to the empty world in the sky and looked down at the busy one on the ground.

You watched her die. You didn't do anything. You're a monster. Jason was right. You're no better than a rogue. You're a rogue. You killed her. You went into that forest. You're monster.

"No," I mutter. "No, I'm not a monster. I'm not!" I scream. "Get out of my head." I plead and hoist myself up onto the ledge. "Get out. Get out. I don't want you anymore!" I whisper.

You killed her. You monster, you killed her.

"Get the fuck out of my head. Get the fuck out. Or I'll. ..I'll jump. That'll end it right? End the accusations? Wouldn't it?" I ask the air.

Do it.

I take a step forward right as I hear the rooftop door swing open and slam against the wall.

"Journey!" Is all I hear before I slip.

And it all goes black.
