We had spent three days in Vancouver. We did all sorts of things. We went sight seeing and I showed them all around the city I knew so well. It was a great feeling; being home. Things seemed different though, Harry didn’t seem totally here. It felt like everything was completely different for some reason. “Lauren!” Harry called from behind me. I turned around and saw him standing before me.
“What’s the matter?” I asked when I was his grim expression.
“Can we talk somewhere?” He asked. I saw Grace stand up from looking through her bag on the other side of the room. Niall looked up from his phone to see what was happening and in all honestly I was just as curious.
“Uh sure?” I told him. See everything was different it was like some sort of wall was built between us. Niall walked over and took Harry aside quickly. I barely heard Niall’s voice but the words were still clear.
“Don’t do this mate.” Niall had instructed. Harry just shook him off and walked to the door. I followed him out into the hall.
“Where are we going?” I asked. The worry sounded pathetic in my small voice.
“Just into the lobby.” Harry shared. Normally he would try to drag the answer out so I wouldn’t know but he had just told me. We stood on either side of the elevator not speaking as if we were strangers.
“Lauren.” Harry finally sighed. “I’m sorry I-I just can’t do this any more.” He told me finally meeting my eyes.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked totally unsure of the whole situation.
“Listen Laur-“ His sentence was cut off by a woman entering the elevator. We all continued down the last few floors in an uncomfortable silence. Once the doors opened the woman fled like she was the murder escaping a crime scene. I guess she could sense the awkwardness too. I stepped out of the elevator with Harry and we walked over to a café that was connected to the high-class hotel. I hastily sat in a chair while Harry went to get us something to drink. He came back and handed me a cup of coffee.
“Thanks.” I mumbled. Harry hastily sat down beside me.
“I really am sorry Lauren but I think we should see other people.” Harry told me.
“What?” I asked shocked. “Why?”
“It’s not you it’s me. I-“ He started but I interrupted.
“Really Harry? It’s not you it’s me? Don’t be that guy.” I laughed bitterly.
“Well… yeah. It’s just not going to work out between us. You’ll be off studying here and I’ll be off on the tour for a couple months at least and I’ll- I’ll get… distracted.” He tried to explain.
“Distracted?” I repeated. I can’t believe this was happening! I loved this guy. He told me he loved me! Was that a lie? Was he just stringing me along and faking it all. A game? Was he just playing a game with me?
“Okay fine!” He yelled out exasperated. “It’s just not working! I can’t be in a relationship I can’t do all that relationship stuff! I want to flirt with random girls at bars and mainly I just can’t be with you!” He shouted causing everyone near to look over. Now the tears rolled out of my steel blue eyes and onto my pale cheeks. I stood up and came close to him.
“Fine.” I spat. “If it’s that hard to love me then so be it!” I snarled before running off and into the open elevator. I waited impatiently as the lift brought me to my floor. As soon as the doors opened I flew out of there and down the hallway. I unlocked the door and ran to my bag. I flew around the room throwing my things back into it.
“Lauren what happened?” Grace asked gently putting her hand on my arm and guiding my sobbing body to sit on the bed.
“That arse.” Niall mumbled before rushing out of the room.
“I-I don’t know. He-He just said it was over.” I sobbed crying onto Grace. I had once sworn that I would never cry over a boy, that I would never let anyone break me but I wasn’t expecting someone like Harry to come into my life. I wasn’t expecting him to leave it either.
~~
It had been two weeks since Harry broke up with me. I was living in the spare room of my aunt’s house until I could move into my dorm. I was wrapped in a warm blanket. I hadn’t bothered changing out of my pyjamas in a week and hadn’t taken a shower in that long either. Even I’ll admit I was in a dark place. Nothing seemed worth it anymore. I only left my room to go to the bathroom and occasionally to the kitchen. Why does every moment have to be so hard? Why couldn’t I go back to the days where I was happy? They seemed so long ago. It feels like I’ve ever been exposed to anything good. Isn’t that pathetic? How a boy can do that to me?
“Lauren!” My aunt called from downstairs.
“Yeah?” I used my once for the first time in a long time so it sounded weak and new.
“Someone’s here for you. I’m sending them up!” My aunt yelled. I didn’t bother with replying. I rolled over in my bed shrinking away from the bright light that came with the opening door.
“Oh god you look awful.” I familiar British voice laughed.
“Shut up.” I mumbled.
“Nope. I’m taking you out. Or more so you’re taking me out as I’ve never been here before.” Danielle laughed.
“Please just let me be.” I sighed.
“No can do kangaroo. Do you know how long it look me to get here then find this place?” She questioned.
“Yeah I don’t care.” I told her, rolling back over to see her insanely pretty face. “Please get out of here. You make me feel like an ugly troll.” I moaned.
“Yeah that’s because it looks like you haven’t showered in ten years!” she exclaimed.
“Danielle please I’m flattered you’re here and everything but just go dance somewhere, do a photo shout then go home back to Liam and live your happy life because right now I wouldn’t get out of my pyjamas for the queen.” I told her honestly. I heard her sigh but then her walk back towards the door.
“You have other people who love you Lauren so don’t keep them away.” She said before closing the door behind her. I curled into a tight ball and started to cry again. Why did this all happen?”
