Time passed slowly for Wade, while the city around him seemed to move quickly and steadily. It was another rainy fall afternoon in the city, people on the streets pulled out their umbrellas still determined to move quickly towards their respective destinations. A never-ending parade of black umbrellas stretched down the streets of the city, bobbing and weaving as people moved intertwining with each other as they moved politely between one another. The rain balled up and spilled down the window of the taxi Wade was sitting in, he traced the water with his finger as it raced down the window. Usually, a New York cab would be one of the last forms of transportation Wade would be caught dead in, no pun intended. However, he felt that if he were to try and run across rooftops, grapple or hijack another horse from the central park police force he would unnecessarily unalive himself. Wade wasn't afraid of the dying part, he was afraid of the time it would take for him to come back and this was definitely not something he was going to risk. Wade's mind definitely wasn't in the right place, well it never was but in this instance, it especially wasn't going to be able to focus on any of those activities, at least efficiently. It had only been twenty minutes since Tony had flown away with Spidey towards the tower but it felt like an eternity for him. Wade was hyper-aware of the time passing slowly, each second slower than the last, he was filled with a desperate need to see the Spider as soon as he could. The feeling he could only describe as a feeling of discomfort that wouldn't leave him until he was by his side again. This thought made him shift uncomfortably in his seat. A loud squeaking noise echoed through the overly quiet cab. The leather of his suit and the leather from the seat had caused the strange squeaking noise as he shifted awkwardly in the seat, he lifted his eyes to look at the rearview mirror. Awkward eye contact was made with the cab driver who had been staring at him more than the road ever since he had picked Wade up.
"So you said your an Avenger?" The unknown cab driver said still looking back at Wade through the rearview mirror.
"Technically no I'm not, they offered me the position and I turned them down, the Hulk and Captain America had a thing for me, you see. I couldn't handle seeing them fight over me and ruining their friendships so I left but now I know who I love and I need to go find Hawkeye and confess my love for him as quickly as I can! As you can imagine I'm incredibly nervous about this..." Wade said in a matter of fact tone as he looked out again at the rainy streets shutting the conversation down in an instant. The cab driver quickly looked back to the road avoiding anymore eye contact with Wade, leaving him to continue to be lost in his own thoughts. Glancing down at his hands he noticed they were still shaking, he couldn't shake the image of Spidey's body sprawled out on the ground and it sickened him. Gripping his hands tightly together he forced them to stop shaking, his jaw clenched as he felt nothing but rage take him over again. Wade felt nothing but anger. Anger towards Venom, anger for the person who set off the rampaging monster but mainly anger towards himself. The entire fight Wade had felt helpless, absolutely useless he couldn't stop anything from playing out the way it did. Confidence in his abilities was something he never had doubts in but this showed him just how powerless he actually was, it felt like a brutal eye-opener. Wade was confident in his strength, his fighting technique, and his ability to never back down from a fight and in most cases win that fight. But all of that meant dick shit when you put Spidey in the mix because now all of a sudden you had given Wade something to lose. The reason he had become such a force to be reckoned with was for that very reason; he had nothing to lose. There was never any risk involved for him but now his friend was that risk and it made him hesitate. Hesitation leads to mistakes and mistakes lead to death, his death was fine but he couldn't bare to watch what happened today happen ever again. The feeling of his nails digging deep into his hand brought him out of his head as he unclenched his jaw and loosened his grip. The tower came into view on the horizon standing tall over the rest of the surrounding buildings.
