بسم الله الرحمان الرحيمThe Ulamaa have explained beautifully;
When such Ahadith regarding Dunya are mentioned it is referring to everything which is under the first sky, Samaaud Dunya.
The entire observable universe is all under the first sky.Nabi e Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said;
The distance between the earth and the first sky is a journey of five hundred years.
All of this is considered Dunya. In other words, the entire observable universe and that universe we cannot see.
The scientists with their instruments and technology have not been able to see the area beyond the observable universe. We do not know how big it is. We can only talk about that universe which has so far been observed. The diameter of the universe is 93 billion light-years. A light-year is the distance light travels in one year. If the light is given off from one end of the observable universe, the time it will take to reach the other end of the observable universe is 93 billion years.
The speed of light is 671 million miles per hour. It is beyond our capability of understanding the vastness of Dunya.
Wherever Dunya comes in the Quraan and Hadith, it refers to this entire area.Dunya is not equal to the wing of a mosquito. Just for the sake of explanation, we assume that it does equal the wing of a mosquito. To match the entire universe to the wing of a mosquito, remove the percentage of the outer and inner space and the galaxies. You are remaining with only one galaxy, the Milky Way. The Milky Way is one of billions of galaxies in the universe. Compared to the other galaxies, the Milky Way is one of the smallest galaxies. In the Milky Way galaxy, are billions of solar systems and from among them is our Fakeer solar system. It is not even a drop in the ocean compared to the other solar systems in the Milky Way galaxy.
Remove the percentage of other solar systems from the wing of the mosquito. We are remaining with our solar system. In our solar system there are nine or eight planets, sun and moon. Take out the percentage of planets, sun, moon and the space in between. We are now remaining with the earth.
The earth is like a dot of space in the entire solar system. Remove the percentage of earth from the wing of the mosquito.
How much of the wing are we going to be remaining with?The earth is covered in about 71% to 72% of water and seven continents. Remove the percentage of water and six continents from the wing. We are remaining with the continent of Africa. From the fifty countries of Africa, remove forty-nine countries and we are remaining with the country of Kenya.
How much of the wing of the mosquito are you left with?
Remove the percentage of the rest of the provinces and counties and we are remaining with the city of Nairobi. Remove the percentage of the rest of the city of Nairobi which we think is a big city and we are remaining with one road. Remove the percentage of all the rest of the houses and buildings on that road and remain with one building. How much of the wing of the mosquito is remaining?
On the tenth floor, is the big Saab in his AC room sitting in his leather swivel chair, swiveling around, thinking, he is a big shot.
He says; I am worth billions.
How much of the wing of the mosquito is he worth?
Can anyone calculate?

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
Right from the beginning, we could not see the wing of the mosquito. After removing all that we have, how much are we left with?
This is the worth of a person in this Dunya. This is the worth of all that we own and possess which we think is something very great. This is how much it is worth in the Eyes of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.The above explanation was for assuming the world was equal to the wing of the mosquito. However, it is not.
What is the worth and value of Dunya? It is nothing.Hadhrat Abdullah bin Umar Radhiallhu Anhu says;
Nabi e Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam came to me and took hold of my shoulders to let me know, he is about to tell me something very important and I should listen with full attention. He adviced me;
Be like a stranger in this world or like someone who is crossing the road.Ghareebun is a stranger or traveller.
Aabirun sabeel is someone crossing the road.
Look at the example Nabi e Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is giving.
The heart of a stranger in another land or country will not stay there. His heart will always be in his homeland. He has come here to do some work and go back.
This is how we are supposed to be in this Dunya because Dunya is not a homeland, our Watan. Our Watan is Aakhirat. That is why we have to have Showke Watan.Hadhrat Thanwi Rahimahullah has written a Kitaab called Showke Watan, how to build Showk for Aakhirat. Our Showk is going to build when we are going to send everything there.
But when we are going to leave everything here, then our heart is also going to be here. Therefore, we need to be like a stranger in this world and more than that, like a person crossing the road.A person crossing the road is going from one side of the road across the other side. One side of the road is coming into this world, which is your birth. The other side of the road is your death, Maut.
Your entire Dunyawi life is the time it took you to cross the road.
It will take a few seconds to cross our roads here in Kenya. When crossing Japanese roads, then it might take you about twelve minutes. This is the life of Dunya.
