Everyone was coping, Alex and Clayre were growing closer once more. Yet it was not only them but many others that were fearful of Caira who embarked on a path to enlightenment, much to her family's shock. She returned to her former sensei and began training and competing in multiple tournaments. Along those lines, she met a group led by a woman named Annie who pleaded for training. Eventually, Caira agreed, finding it to be a sense of enlightenment. With her lessons from Ra's, competitions, and training Annie, Caira figured what she had to be doing.
Caira's Point of View
"Flank left!"
I shouted, my 'students' following the moves I demonstrated. With a swift kick to the air, I heard the noises of their feet swinging. Teaching them to land a roundhouse was another thing. One guy stumbled upon bringing his leg up to the bag I held up for him. "You're bouncing." I adjusted his movement and made sure he did it right. Soon, we reached the end of the temporary session and I was packing to get ready for training with Ra's. For the past week, I've been training these people and honestly, it felt...Like they were teaching me actually. Aside from Ra's, they were teaching me to be something better, to let my actions flow.
"Um, Ms. Ghul?" I snapped out of my thoughts, looking to find Annie coming toward me.
I cleared my throat, adjusting myself. "Yes?"
"When is that next tournament? Just curious." She said.
I told her. "Early in the morning tomorrow at the Bending Arena. It won't last very long but you'll see what I know."
Annie smiled, nodding. "Thanks! I'll let everyone know!"
I chuckled, patting her back. "Alright, get going. I'll see you soon." We said our goodbyes and departed. I left back to the hideout Ra's instructed me to be at. Once I reached the place, there he stood as usual. "I'm ready, sensei."
"Then let us begin." He said, turning around and getting into a stance, instructing me to follow his every move. Every twist and twirl consisted of letting my chi, all that corruption I held, that Ozai forced into me, I had to let it go. With every breath I spun, and tripped, falling onto my butt with a grunt. Ra's shook his head, staring at me with what I thought were disapproving eyes. I would've looked down if he hadn't made me face him. "Your mind continues to fight it, let it flow."
"I-I'm trying, sensei. My students have been helping too but-" I cut myself off, sighing. "What is wrong with me?"
"It is not you, my child." He told me, placing his hand on my shoulder. "It is your mind and heart. You continue to hold a grudge. You need to find the inner peace, fight from within."
He was right, I stood up, putting my hands together and bowing at him. I went into the room where the Lazarus pit was, sitting down, crossing my legs and meditating, my eyes closed. The only sounds that I heard was the silence of the cave with the green fluid bubbling. Darkness with the luminous light reflected upon me. Inner peace, finding my balance, he said. I went to my temporary quarters and slept.
The next day came, I walked into a large building with my bag over my shoulder. The Bending Arena. This time, they had an individual division. Today, I would go up against a waterbender. I felt a pat on my back from Talia who agreed to come with me to the tournament. "Consider that a gesture for good luck."
"I'll bear that in mind." I told her, hearing the crowd cheering as I got on my helmet. "Time to get out there."
"Ladies and Gentleman!" There went the announcer. "Welcome to the Annual Individual Bending Tournament!"
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes, remembering the terrible times I used fire against everyone. "Use your fire to burn the guilt and fear that eats at you." I heard Talia say from behind me, I nodded before putting on my helmet and running onto the platform.
