Theo laughed quietly as he watched Fern tease Violet, playing with her hair and winking. This was basically their daily routine, so he didn't really think anything of it. Tanner suddenly grabbed his hand, squeezing it tight.
"Thank you," he whispered, his eyes watery. "For everything."
"What do you have to thank me for?" Theo leaned his head against his shoulder, maintaining eye contact.
"For coming into my life and staying there. You've done so much for me that you don't even know about." Theo grinned at him, a rose blush creeping across his cheeks.
"Shut up. You're the one who saved me, literally, from death." Tanner rolled his eyes.
"Of course I did, call it a side effect of being in love with you." Theo laughed, blushing. He never got tired of hearing him say that. "I'd do it another million times," he added in a more serious tone. "Seriously, though. You were the first real friend I've ever had who accepted me and loved me. Without you I never would've met Fern and Violet or known my true self. I love you, Theo." Theo hid his face in Tanner's shoulder, embarrassed. It wasn't often he got this sappy around Theo, and though it worried him he did value it.
"Are you okay?" He teasingly asked. "So emotional!" Tanner snickered and shoved his shoulder.
"Shush, you idiot. Am I not allowed to tell my boyfriend that I love him?" Theo shook his head with a laugh.
They'd only put a label on their relationship a week prior, but Theo still blushed whenever Tanner called him his boyfriend. It just felt so right, so nice. His heart began to thump in his chest, nervous.
"I love you Tanner," Theo whispered, turning his face to look at him. Tanner blushed, smiling in surprise. "I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner."
"Stop apologizing," Tanner grumbled, rolling his eyes. He tightened his grasp around Theo's shoulders, letting his head rest against his shoulder.
"Guys, if you could exit your honeymoon phase for one minute and please help-" Violet grumbled, cut off by Fern's loud laughter. Theo turned to, watching as she pulled her face away from a still laughing Fern as she attempted to apply huge winged eyeliner to Violet's bright eyes.
"Fern, give her a break!" Tanner laughed, as Theo snorted at Violet's scrunched up nose. She looked extremely uncomfortable, but giggled all the same.
"Oh, shush. You two were practically writing each other's wedding vows, I'm just giving her dope eyeliner." Theo blushed.
"We hardly ever talk like that!" Tanner stammered, blushing deeply. Fern laughed, finishing her art project on Violet's eyes.
"Yeah, only every other day," she teased, cleaning up the mess on Violet's face. "If you hadn't wiggled so much, this would look good!"
"You're just jealous," Theo teased, grinning at Fern. She nodded, gesturing to Violet.
"I am! This one just refuses to love me." Violet snorted sticking her tongue out at Fern. "Seriously, stick your tongue out at me one more time and I will kiss you."
"You wouldn't dare." Fern shrugged dramatically, sighing loudly.
"Just do it, I dare you." Violet shrugged, sticking out her to tongue. Fern squinted at her, crossing her arms. "Well, I'm not actually going to kiss you without consent," she grumbled, rolling her eyes.
