Jungkook, when he woke up, heard from hushed whispers that Harper was awake - but she wasn't too good and his heart ached with guilt. He exited his room, and headed towards the kitchen and he saw Harper sat at the table next to Felix who was feeding magic into her. She was paler than she was before, and she shakily brought the spoon of soup to her lips and Jungkook's heart ached more.
"Harper?" Jungkook called quietly, briefly making Harper freeze before she turned slowly and if his eyes weren't mistaken she was wincing every move she made. Felix panted lightly when his eyes opened.
"You'll begin to warm up soon." Felix smiled softly at her, and she simply looked up at him with wide eyes and nodded weakly and he left leaving Jungkook and Harper awkwardly facing each other.
"I'd like to apologise." Jungkook stayed where he was stood, after all she was ready to take him to America at one point, and she was America's fighter. "If I had came with you without a fight, you wouldn't have had to put yourself in that position to attempt it." He bowed his head.
"No." She whispered softly. "I wouldn't have. However, it is just as much as my fault as it is yours. I shouldn't have followed the orders to kidnap you, or anyone else that I have done." Harper stood up, wincing again making Jungkook move to stop her but she slowly bowed lowly. Jungkook watched in amazement, the girl that was once the stubborn fighter in front of him was now bowing in respect despite being in pain.
"You... You don't have to bow. We know what they do to mages who are powerful enough over there, I wouldn't say it was your fault at all. You were conditioned that way, made into a fighting machine not a human." He spoke kindly and slowly neared her, daring to get closer.
"Not Human?" She questioned softly. "Changbin or somebody mentioned that to me before... Said I hadn't lost my humanity or something..." She looked at the bowl of tinned soup in front of her and gently pushed it away.
"I'll explain it... We'll all help explain it to you when you've recovered more." He spoke softly. "You're still not one hundred percent are you?"
"Honestly? I feel like I've been torn apart and put back together a million times... What happened?"
"You sent this giant fire bird at us, and your pendant smashed." Harper's eyes widened and her hand subconsciously came to where the pendant once was.
"That explains why then. I'm lucky I didn't die." She commented, lifting her head from looking at the table to looking at the man beside her. "Most mages, when their gem smashes die. But then again, sometimes they're inside the mage so it caused a lot of internal damage when it smashed. How did I survive?"
"I was the first one to help, the boys were weary on helping you as after all you were here to take me, but as they slowly came over I began pouring my magic into you." Jungkook's cheeks slowly turned pink. "I put just enough in to keep you alive until you began to replenish yourself. But you did that slowly, far too slow. So we got Chan and Felix here to help."
"You... You saved me though? You kept me alive long enough so I could reproduce my own magic supply?" Jungkook looked down at the girl, who looked up at him with nothing but admiration and nodded, and what happened next shocked him.
She sprung out her seat, despite being in obvious pain, and hugged him tightly, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Thank you..." She whimpered.
