Cyrus POV
I couldn't think straight.
The whole ordeal was completely crazy, someone controlling our dreams and making them nightmares. Usually I could handle this, but these dreams seemed so real. it was impossible not to be worried after seeing that.
I found myself looked over at Chelsea if she was okay almost every minute, as if she might disappear. If she was gone then I wouldn't be able to go back to being sane anymore.
"Alright, as far as we have guessed, this target only watches us at night, to insert the nightmares. That's why we have to have someone who stays awake, and scouts the base from a distance." Said Najenda, making a plan.
Everyone nodded grimly, but the questions still hung in the middle of us all, who will do it? If the target is that shadow thing from our dreams, then there's no way any of us could survive it.
Looking at the others, they thought the same thing. I don't want any of them to get hurt, no way am I letting that happen again.
"I'll do it." Me and Lubbock both said at the same time. We looked at each other in surprise, but I should know better than to be surprised at him wanting to do it. He's changed.
Najenda grins nervously. "Fine, both of you will do it. Cyrus will take the north side and Lubba will take the south. Deal?"
Me and Lubbock nodded slowly. Everyone stared at us like we were crazy men.
I look at Lubbock. "Your gonna have to set up your threads for extra help." He nods and stands with me. We needed to get into our positions before nightfall.
We're walking down the hall, then Lubbock laughs.
"We haven't been on an actual mission together ever since Doya's first. Brings back some memories, eh?" He said with a grin.
I pat him on the shoulder. "Sure does... Let's kill this ass hole."
Lubbock jumped up onto a tree branch, and waved at me to get going once we were outside. He takes off, and as I'm about to as well...
"Cyrus." Chelsea is standing near the doorway. I could tell she was worried, that me and Lubbock might find that shadow looking monster. But I had to try, right?
I walked up to her and pulled her into a hug. She was so worried that she was shivering. "I just got you back... you better not die." She said.
I let out a small laugh. "I'm not one that's easily killed."
She squeezed harder, were now closer. I catch a whiff of her smell, peaches, I guess it did change everyday. I let go and give her light and quick kiss.
I turn and pull my hood over my face, I look at my mask for a long time. I smile, then walk back to Chelsea and hand it to her. She seems surprised by this, I never leave my mask off during a mission.
"I don't need it anymore." I said as I jumped off into the trees. Chelsea returned inside, while I got into position, it was just turning night. The moon as large and so close it seemed I almost could touch it.
I wait quietly for something to happen...
For three hours..
When the hell is this guy gonna show up! I said in my mind. Waiting was making me impatient, I needed something to do, something to keep me occupied. I sigh, deciding that counting stars might help.
Just then I heard a twinge of Lubbocks thread move. I instantly get up and look at the direction it came from. I know for sure that it's not the shadow like creature, but a robed person.
