Kill the Lone Assassin - part 3

Akame POV

Me and the others still stared at the random intruder with total surprise. Night Raid had never had to deal with another assassin.

The guy looked about my age or maybe older, judging by height. He wore a black overcoat with a hood over his head, and in that hood was not his face, but a gas mask. he looked very intimidating, and dangerous.

"That's my Kill!" The guy said as he suddenly sprinted up to Tatsumi.

before Tatsumi could react, he rammed his knee into Tatsumi's face, making him bleed from the nose. Lubbock readied his threads, and formed a spear with them, chucking it at the Assassin.

but to our surprise...

he caught it. he was now holding it in both hands, and threw it right back at him.

"Whoa!" Lubbock said quickly as he barely dodged his own thread.

Now was the time to act! I readied Muramasa, and closed in. The assassin looked at through his gas mask, I somehow could feel the grin growing on his face.

"The famous Akame! I'm honored to be able to fight such a furious warrior!" He said with peaking excitement.

from under his coat, he pulls out a broad sword and deflects my blade.

He swiped his sword to his right, masterfully completing his movements.

I jump out of the way of his swipe, and inspect his blade. most normal iron or metal blades would have broke in two when cut by Muramasa, but his sword didn't have a scratch on it.

He notices me staring at his sword.

"Are you, interested in my sword?" He asked, gripping it more tightly.

I frown, "Your blade should have been cut in two when I attacked..." I began to say.

But the Assassin was suddenly running up at me, and slashed downwards on my blade. he had more momentum, I can't block him for long.

"My blade is made of a danger beast that had bones harder than any metal, so even your Muramasa can't cut it." he said, explaining.

I push him with all my strength, making him take a few steps back.

what the hell was Tatsumi and Lubbock doing? I look over at them and see that Tatsumi was now chasing after the target, who tried to make a run for it. The target was calling for more guards.

Lubbock on the other hand, where the heck is he!?

Lubbock POV

I ran down the hallway, chasing what seemed like a man with a camera. if he had gotten a snapshot of me or Tatsumi, that means were out of the stealth department.

Shit, I can't let him get away. with that skilled assassin in our way, it'll just make this more complicated.

"Damn, why didn't I just stay with the weird people back at base instead of coming on a mission?" I said to myself as quickened my sprint.

He turned a corner! I've got him now! I thought.

I turn the corner, readying my threads, weaving them into a weapon. but I am instantly him square in the face. I'm knocked onto my back, and my head spins.

"Look what we got here." says a voice. it sounded like a man.

I look up to see a man, about in his thirties, with a top hat on, and a clown mask. he wore a business suit. he looked like some crooked comedian.

"Who the hell?!" I said as I quickly got to my feet.

the man was very lean, now that I look at him, and tall, not much in the muscle department.

"Now, now. I can't have you chasing after him, he has evidence." he said. his voice sounded high, and very slow. it was really creepy.

I try to put on a fearless grin, "sorry, pal. I try to spend time with mostly girls. and your in my way."

The man titled his head, then laughed, looking into the ceiling and laughing like a lunatic. did I push the wrong buttons?

he came to an abrupt stop. and looked back down at me. He puts his hands out in front of him, and then starts doing a mime trick, or that's what it looks like.

"are you really a clown or something..?" I said with confused face.

then, before I knew it, my body started to move on its own.

"w-what the?!"

the man laughs. "Your now my toy!" He said with excitement.

now that I look closer, I'm doing the same movements he's doing! what the heck is going on?!

the man stops laughing at looks into my eyes.

"You wonder who I am? I will tell you..." he stops for dramatic effect.

I wait.

"I am Vandal! The Puppeteer!"
