Thea's POV
Ashes. They were everywhere. It didn't seem like it was recent. It's like they had been just drifting with the wind for a year. This didn't seem to be a good thing. The world seemed destroyed. But, once again, not recent. I saw two people walking down the street. They looked all too familiar. Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov.
"Hey," I called out to them but they didn't seem to hear me. I quickly walked to them. As I got right up behind them, I could hear them talking.
"But where'd Stark go?"
"Steve, I wouldn't worry about him. Stark can handle himself just fine."
"Natasha," he sighed, "I'm not worried about that. What if he got dusted too? We all need to work together if we can hope to get everyone back."
"Well, if that's the case, we need to find Clint too."
What are they talking about? "Guys," I spoke up. "Guys, why are you looking for my dad?" They didn't acknowledge me, at all. It's like I wasn't there.
"Then that's what we'll do. Search for everyone who we're sure is still alive."
"Still alive?" I became worried. "What are you talking-" I stopped. I knew what they were talking about. We were learning about it in World History this week. When Thanos snapped, fifty-percent of the world's population vanished. Dusted.
"Guys! My dad's in space!" I ran in front of them but they walked right through me. Crap, this isn't now. It's like twenty or so years ago.
I turned around to go after them when I felt myself being pulled back. Like someone grabbed me by the collar of my sweatshirt and yanked me. A void of black surrounded me right before I landed on my back.
I was now in a different place. The ash wasn't as present anymore. Instead, it was building debris and concrete ash. The sky was dark and there wasn't much light coming from anywhere else.
I stood up. The wind blew strands of hair into my face as I looked around. Everything seemed to be at a pause. Like someone just put a battle on pause with a remote. But the one thing that caught my eye the most was the huge purple grape of a monster, a huge tsunami wall made by the wizard, and...my dad. Weilding the six infinity stones, he was standing up to Thanos.
I had remember seeing the aftermath, but never actually watching it happening. I didn't know if he could hear me, but I need to try something anyways. "Stop!" I ran towards the two of them. Jumping over every obstacle. Passing all the things that stood in my way. I couldn't just sit back and watch my dad die...again. "Please! Dad!"
I reached my hand out towards him. I was almost there. Just a little bit farther Thea. Just a little closer. Come on!
A flash of light and electricity threw me back. I screamed both out of fright and sadness. I wasn't able to stop it. It was...like...my fault.
I opened my eyes. I was on the ground with glass and shrapnel all around me. Buildings has fallen. Fires had been started. Yet the sky was still a little blue. These buildings, though. They were familiar. As I looked, I saw that they were the academy's buildings and dorms. Everything seemed in ruins.
I sat up. There were bodies everywhere. Friends. Family. Peers. Strangers. Lying all over. Some were breathing. Some weren't. There was this mood hanging over all of this.
Not only did this give me emotional pain, but physical pain. Everything hurt and ached. Every time I moved even the slightest bit, I would get a shooting pain throughout my body.
I felt something drop onto my stomach. I looked down that's when I noticed my suit. It looked beat up and torn. It wasn't completely made from metal and scraps. It was this adhesive fabric; very flimsy and flexible.
The thing that had dropped was a red, staining type of substance. Blood. I lifted my hand to my nose. Nothing. I moved it to my mouth. Definitely stuff there. I checked my cheeks; there were cuts all over. My forehead wasn't bleeding but it seemed to be bruised.
I stood up, and I nearly fell over. My right ankle had become numb. That wasn't a good sign. But I ended up stabilizing myself.
"Theadora Stark."
I turned so fast I nearly got whiplash. It was him. "Thanos."
"Ah, it's a pleasure to finally meet you. Especially after knowing your father. Tell me, how we're able to revive him?"
"I...I don't know," I couldn't find the right words. "It wasn't really me."
"Yes, it was. Why did you bring him back?"
"I missed him," I replied. "I wanted a father figure in my life."
"Lies. You had father figures: Happy, Rhodes, Fury, Peter," he took a step closer to me. "You did it because you felt guilty."
"No, I didn-"
"Don't lie to me," he shook his head. "You thought, since you couldn't save him then, you could save him now." He stepped over a classmate of mine. "I mean, it makes sense. You were one of the reasons. But everyone has to sacrifice something in order to get what they want; what they need. And you? You needed a clear conscience."
I rolled my eyes. He's gotta be joking. I looked around at the destruction, "What is this? Why did you have to come back and destroy everything again?" I tried to change the topic.
"This is what you've caused. Only thinking of yourself. Just like your father."
"Hey, don't talk smack about my father," I took a limped step forward. "I bet you didn't even have a father."
Thanos just shook his head, and continued on with what he was saying prior, "I won, because I thought of everyone else as well as myself."
"Don't get cocky," I smirked. "You haven't won yet."
"You think so? Because you're the only one still standing," he tilted his head. "With one flick, you could be dead as well."
He was right. I knew that. But I couldn't give up yet. There was a chance that I could beat him. Not very likely, but there was a chance.
"Come, let's have a talk," he extended his hand.
I stared at it whilst trying to make up my mind. Should I? What if he tries to kill me? But would he spare my life if I give in? Finally I came to a conclusion and said, "No."
"And why is that?"
"Because-"
"She has to get home by nine."
No. No, no, no, no! I turned around, "Dad? Why...why are you here? You shouldn't be here."
"Welcome Anthony. Glad to see you joined the party."
"Hey, leave him alone," I stood in front of my father. "Leave."
"Thea, don't get in between this. Go, help your friends," Dad spoke walking right past me.
"Dad? Dad!" I screamed. I screamed for him so loud.
I screamed so loud I woke myself up. I woke up sobbing and screaming. It was all a dream.
"Thea? Are you okay?" Brooklyn was sitting on the edge of my bed.
I knew what that dream meant. I looked up to her, "Thanos is coming back."
