Y/N POV
I can't believe it, a cute guy asked me out! And Brooke clearly knew him, so he must be cool.
I sat in class thinking about him, his textured brown hair, his chocolate eyes, and skin so light tan it almost looked sun kissed.
I really hoped he called me, after all I did write my name on his arm. So I had no power basically.

"Y/N! What's the answer to question #6?"
The teacher demanded, clearly irritated at my negligence.
I stared at the board skimming through the scratch work she did.
"x=284."
I was always able to do fast math in my head. I didn't know why, it just came naturally to me.
The teacher sighed and nodded, writing the answer below.

I went back to day dreaming, but as soon as I started, it was over. The bell rang obnoxiously loud and I grabbed my stuff, walking out of class.

I went outside to the bike rack, pulling off my bike and peddling towards that 7/11 I saw down the street.

I never really came to this side of town before I moved schools, so this was all new to me. I rolled I into the parking lot, and propped my bike against the wall outside, stepping in.
That's when I saw him.
Standing in the back, drinking a slushee.

I walked over, grabbing my own slushie, and tapped on his shoulder. He jumped, and pulled his headphones off, turning around.
His freaked expression melted and he smiled.
"Hey Y/N. What are you doing here?"
I smiled and sipped my frozen drink.
"Same thing you are."
I bumped our cups together and he raised an eyebrow, staring at me.

"What?" I asked.
He shook his head.
"I don't know it's just... popular people never come here." He said. I giggled.
"I'm not popular. I pretty much only talk to Brooke, and occasionally Dustin."
Michael raised an eyebrow.
"Dustin? Do you... you know?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Do I what?"
He squinted but then his head hung.
"Never mind, forget I asked."

I smiled, and paid for my drink. I was about to walk out when Michael grabbed my wrist.
I flinched, squirming at the contact. It reminded me all to much of...
Nevermind.
"Wait... do you maybe want to, come over? Hang out?"
I thought for a minute.
"Sure, why not? Anything beats going home."
"What?"
Shoot.
"Forget I said that."

We walked out to his car, I grabbed my bike, putting it in the back seat.
"Can I...?"
"Huh? Oh yah that fine."
I smiled and shut the door, sitting up in the front.
He handed me the aux cord and I plugged my phone in, hitting shuffle.
The first song to come on was Is This Love?
I smiled and sang along, grooving to the sound.
Michael laughed and looked at me.
"You like Marley?"
"Exclusively. Well, also Bowie and (f/band)."
He smiled brighter, turning slightly red.
"You good dude?"
I laid a hand on his arm.
He looked down and froze.
"Yah, Fine."

We sat in silence for a while, listening to the sweet sound of the music. It was serene, peaceful, nice. His presence was just... calming.
I felt happy to have a close friend, or... boyfriend?
He did say this was a date.
"Hey Michael, are we dating?"
He went red again.
"W-What?"
I turned the music down a little.
"Well I was just wondering, cause you mentioned it at lunch so..."
I wasn't sure how to end that statement.

He cleared his throat and gripped the steering wheel harder.
"Yah, yah we are."
I blushed lightly.
"Okay, cool."
I laid my head on his arm and closed my eyes, sunlight shining on my face.

Every little movement from him made me smile. His soft hoodie fabric and the patches against my cheeks made me happy.
I've only ever done this once before, dating before being friends.
But it wasn't too weird, dating someone as you get to know them.
I was happy, and I hoped he was too.
I really liked him.
