Michael's POV
I was actually kind of freaked out. Y/N had never talked about her mom, and the one time she did, she had to catch every other word before saying it out loud. She insisted I don't talk to her, she could do it herself, but I was still freaked. Especially since she was scared to see what her mom would do. That made me think,
What was she going to do??It was around lunch, and I was officially panicking. Y/N still hadn't shown up, and I was sitting at our table, my hands folded in front of my face. My leg was thumping loudly against the linoleum floor, and I kept my eyes glued to the door, waiting for her to come in.
But she never did."Hey man?" Jeremy put his hand on my shoulder.
I replied with a grunt, keeping my eyes on the door.
"Are you okay? You seem really freaked."
I grunted again, not feeling like properly responding. What if they were fighting? What if she was grounded, or not allowed to see me anymore?
What if she ran away to the field again?"Seriously man, what's up?"
I pried my eyes from the door to see a painfully worried Jeremy gazing at me. Behind him was Jake and Christine, looking equally worried.
"I'm just... I'm fine."
I just wish Y/N would talk to me.
The grip on my shoulder tightened.
"Just talk to me man."
I sighed."I'm worried about Y/N."
"What, why?"
"Because, her mom is... a scary person? Anyway, she had to talk to her mom about something important, and she still isn't here."
Jeremy looked confused.
"Look, it's just hard to explain. I'm just worried about her."I rest my chin on my hand and continued to stare out the door.
"Go get her then."
That was all I needed.
I jumped up and sprinted out the door, pushing it open and running to my car.
I jumped in and took a breath, turning the key and slamming the gas.As the car accelerated forward my nerves calmed. She was going to be fine, I would make sure of it. I was probably overreacting anyway. It'd be okay.
Y/N's POV
"STOP!!" I screamed. Another miscellaneous object came flying at me, and I ducked. The object smashed against the wall behind me.
I looked up at my mom, who was red in the face and reeked of booze.I backed away, tripping over the broken pieces of glass, and the picture frame on the ground.
I fell to the ground and laid my back against the wall, holding my bleeding arm.My mother trudged toward me, and grabbed the vase off the end table.
She hit it on the side of my head, striking everything from my ear to my eye.
I felt the bruise forming already. My eye teared up and I tried to wipe the blood off my face, but ended up smearing the blood from my arm on my cheek."You never listen to me, you're out *burp* with those goddamn boys. You little s-"
She was cut off by a knocking at the door.
"Y/N?" I heard a faint voice outside.
She whipped around to look at me.
"Who the hell is that?" She slurred.
I shrugged. I honestly had no clue.
I tried wiping more blood off, but it smeared more.
My mom growled and grabbed my hair, throwing me further on the ground. Then the door opened.
Crap, I forgot the lock's broken.
Then the most terrifying thing happened.
Michael walked in.
"Y/N's what's u-"
He froze in his tracks when he saw the display in front of him. Broken pieces of glass and pottery, my bloody form laying on the ground, and I'm almost positive I had a black eye."Y-Y/N?" He quivered. He looked up at my mom, and his face went from terrified to absolutely infuriated.
He charged forward and pushed my intoxicated mother to the ground, grabbing me. I laid on his back, my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. We got out to his car and I sat in the passenger seat. He hopped in and pulled out his phone. My vision was getting blurry, and the stinging on my arms became more prevalent as my adrenaline wore off.
The side of my head throbbed and my eyes fluttered closed. I felt the air slowly escape my lungs-
And a hand shake me awake."Hey, nope. No sleeping, keep your eyes open."
I nodded slowly and Michael hung up the phone.
"It's okay I called the police. It's going to be fine."
My eyes fluttered closed again. His hand shook my arm some more, and the last thing I heard was:
"No. No no no Y/N stay awake..."
Before I slipped away..
