Michael's POV
My wheels squealed as I swerved into a parking spot. I'm not even sure I was in the lines, I didn't even care.My feet went at lightning speed as I ran towards the doors of the hospital. I knew she would be in the child infirmary, so I raced towards the stairs.
As I burst through the door, a trail of sweat running down the side of my face, I continued sprinting, my shoes squeaking against the floor.
I practically crashed into the front desk, panting.
"Y/N. L/N. Or Jeremy Heere, or Christine Caligula. Are they okay? Where are they? Can I see them? Are they here?"
The desk woman smiled softly, remaining calm.
"Jeremy Heere is awake. Room 307."I speed-walked down the hall, reading room numbers.
I stood in the doorway, and a frightened, scrawny Jeremy sat in a bed.
His dad sat beside him sleeping, and Jeremy stared at me wide-eyes.
"M-Michael?" His voice sounded meek and far."Jeremy!" I whispered, rushing to him, wrapping my arms around him. He hugged me just as tightly. Tears pricked my eyes.
"I'm- *sob* so happy to *hic* see you man." He whimpered. It made me so sad. What he must have gone through.
"I'm so glad y-you're h-here." I stuttered, fighting tears.
I wanted to stay strong while he cried.I pulled away and looked at him. It hurt my heart. I hadn't seen him in about 18 days. He was scrawny and tired looking. He had a couple bruises and a knife-scar on his arm. It was in a weird shape.
"What's that?" I pointed to the weird star-shaped white lines on his arm. He frowned.
"He did that to all of us. That's how he marked us."
I sat there, astounded.
"Marked you?" I reiterated, hoping I heard him wrong. He nodded."Jer, I'm so sorry. This is terrible, I can't believe this happened to you. You don't deserve this." I frowned. He shrugged, awkwardly.
"Oh! I got this for you."
I pulled out the slushie from my hoodie, and handed it to him. He smiled and grabbed it, slurping it super fast.
"Sorry, it kinda melted, and it's not very cold..."
He was sucking it down at lightning speed.
"But uh... seems like you like it."He smiled warmly. "It's so good. All I've had to eat for days was stale bread." He laughed.
I frowned.
"Stale bread?"
He slurped and smiled, nodding.
"Thank you Michael. I missed you."
He said, setting the cup down and hugging me again.I smiled and stood up.
"Where's Christine?" I asked.
He frowned, and his head hung.
"She's uh... she's still sleeping." He muttered.
"And Y/N?"
"Yah. Still sleeping. Along with that Heather girl."
I sighed.
"Alright. I'll stay here then."Jeremy raised an eyebrow.
"Michael no, you should go home. Sleep."
"No way. I lost you for too long. I can't loose you again."
Jeremy smiled.
"I'm okay now Michael. Promise."
I grinned and sat down on the couch across from his snoring father."This is just... too good to be true." He said.
"What?" I leaned my chin on my hand.
"Seeing you. I mean... I'd pretty much given up. Seeing anyone other than those kids in there."
I sulked at the thought. I knew that thought. I had just about given up too.His eyes started to loll, and his head became loose. He looked like he was going to fall asleep.
I rubbed his back, and patted his shoulder.
"Jer, maybe you should go to sleep."
He nodded.
"No, I *yawn*... yah maybe I should."He laid his head down and shut his eyes.
I watched as his breathing became lighter and he began to softly snore.
I was so happy they were finally here and safe. But what kind of irreversible damage has been done to them?
