At 8:30 am on the dot the door to the coffee shop swung open, a young man stumbling in, seeking shelter from the raging storm outside. His thin sweater did little to provide him with any warmth.
Julian quickly finished with the previous customer and greeted the newcomer.
"Hi! What can I get you?" Julian put on his best retail smile.
The newcomer stared blankly at the menu for a moment.
"Um, something sweet?" he was apparently asking for suggestions.
"Well, the chai tea latte is usually a favourite," Julian said.
"Yeah. Sound good. I'll take that" the newcomer said.
"Tall, grande, or venti?" Julian asked.
"Uh, venti, please," the newcomer replied.
"Okay! That'll be $4.65" Julian said.
The newcomer handed Julian a five-dollar bill.
"Here's your change, sir. And what's your name?" Julian asked.
"Asra," the newcomer said, "with an s"
"Great! Your drink will be ready soon. Have a nice day!"
Asra moved away to a table to wait for his drink.
Julian caught himself starting at Asra. He found the man extraordinarily attractive. Asra's tanned body contrasted the snow-white locks framing his face. Oh, and those eyes! Julian had never seen anything more beautiful. They seemed to swirl with at least three shades of purple, intertwining, creating almost a galaxy-like pattern.
Julian snapped out of his daydreaming when the next customer cleared their throat.
"Hi! What can I get you?"...
Julian zoned out for a bit until Nadia, Julian's friend and this shift's manager, called out Asra's name, sending Julian a glare as she did.
Asra got up from his seat and picked up his drink. He took a sip, but almost choked when he noticed what the cup said.
Dat Ass(ra)~~
Ur cute <3 -Julian
Asra's head snapped to the barista at the register, who returned the gaze with a smug smirk spread across his face.
Asra huffed and turned away, but he could feel his cheeks flush red with embarrassment.
Asra escaped to a table in a corner, still having a perfect view of Julian. Every now and again he glanced up at Julian, taking in more and more details every time.
The hair was the first thing Asra had noticed. Firey-red shoulder-length curls, covering the right side of Julian's face.
The apron Julian wore was tightly tied around his waist, hugging his figure flatteringly. Underneath that, he wore a white button-up shirt, the first two buttons undone, and black skinny jeans. All in all, he was pretty dam hot.
Julian's smile when he served the customers was quite obviously forced, but it still seemed to charm everyone, girls and boys alike. It was different from the one he held while serving Asra though. That smile had been genuine.
Julian pretended not to notice Asra looking at him but made sure to swing his hips a bit extra when he moved around behind the counter. Yes, he was that bitch.
~~~
By the time Asra had hoped to be able to leave, he found that not only was the storm still raging outside, but it had, in fact, gotten worse. No way he was getting to work in this weather.
